Do you rate Hughie Fury?

The 6'6, 230lbs, 21-year-old has been a professional since March 2013. He's compiled a record of 18-0, 10 KOs.

Boxrec list him as the 5th best Heavyweight in the UK. He has wins over Andriy Rudenko and George Arias. Rumours are that he will take part in some kind of title fight next.

What do you think of his talent and how far will he go?

Re: Do you rate Hughie Fury?

I was really liking Baby Hughie early in his career, while he took apart cabbie after cabbie.

However in his last few fights, (also against cabbies) he's looked rather poor, to put it mildly. He seemed unmotivated, almost lethargic, as if he never really wanted to be a boxer but was talked into it by his family. (which is quite possible.)

If he DOES really want it, then I think he has the natural gifts to be a true champ (much more gifted than Tyson) , but he needs to get away from Peter asap. I think Peter Fury is very good at teaching the fundamentals, and I applaud his recent plyometric-type training of Tyson, but there is a point at which he simply cannot hang with the big boys, and Hughie has evidently reached that point.

Re: Do you rate Hughie Fury?

I was just reading an article there. They thought it was going to be Anthony Joshua vs Hughie Fury that was going to be announced rather than Joshua vs Martin.

Maybe this will get made in the near future as it will be seen by many as an easy title defence for Joshua if he can win the title.

Another one who if it happens doesn't deserve a title shot.

It's hard to get really excited about Kassi, an aging journeyman with a really short reach.

- but he's definitely the best opponent Huey will have faced. At least Kassi was able to take Breazeale (whom I rate VERY highly) the distance.

This fight should be interesting.

Re: Do you rate Hughie Fury?

Not sure I have seen Hughie fight....maybe once, very early on on an undercard for Fury possible, when he was on channel 5?

Anyway I haven't seen very much and never heard him talk, always seen in the background of Tyson. So in that case he comes across as just the thick cousin of Ty, which is really saying something! :haha:

Re: Do you rate Hughie Fury?

Hard to say anything about him really. The heavyweight division is not very deep unlike other weight classes so everyone below the top 15 are pretty much all bums and tomato cans! He probably won't get a top 15 fight for 2-3 years because of how young he is, i believe he is still 21? Like Tyson Fury and Joshua, other fighters will only fight him when he is around 24-25 and has more pulling power in terms of viewing figures etc.

He is basically a baby in the heavyweights, other fighters would be more willing to fight him if he had more drawing power, e.g like the hype behind Mike Tyson as a teen and young adult. Unfortunately he neither has the aesthetic looks, brutal KO power, nor the charisma or loud mouth of today's current heavyweight champions :(.

Is that Fred kassi the dude that was robbed against Chris arriola with a draw? If it is, he's good. I think hughie is great prospect. still so young.

Yeah, that's him - he's fought well in his last three fights against Breazeale, Arreola and Mansour. Has a counterpunching style. Needs to be more aggressive against light punching Hughie otherwise he'll be outjabbed all night.

Re: Do you rate Hughie Fury?

hughie is a good solid fighter. he goes about his business quietly and learns his trade much the same way tyson did by fighting a lot of different types of fighters and styles. good training tactic by peter fury if u ask me
