BoztheMadman
Long time since I mad a history discussion thread, so I thought why not, every thread I make doesn't have to be article-like. ;-) Anyway, I am counting on you Scott to take part as the resident Asian fighter expert. And I hope there is at least one more Asian-fan out there. Well, this is the topic: Samson Dutch Boy Gym. Has anyone seen him fight? He's a weird example, a guy who conquered a minor title (World Boxing Federation) and defended it THIRTY-EIGHT times and retired undefeated at 43-0, but never fought for the world title. I mean, what happened here, was he not interested in going for the big fights or what? Anyway, here's just a little info on him: his real name is really long, Saengmuangnoi Lukchapormasak. He is from Roi-Et in Northeast Thailand, which is rather unusual, since most other Thai fighters are from the south. He was born 11 July 1972 and also fought under the aliases of Samson Elite Gym and Samson 3-K Battery. He turned pro in early 1992 and captured the WBF super flyweight title in 1994. His most famous opponents were Rolando Pascua (who knocked out Humberto Chiquita Gonzalez to win the WBC light flyweight title in 1990), Genaro Garcia (who unsuccessfully challenged for world title 4 times, last time against WV2 in 2012), Cruz Carbajal (won WBO bantamweight title, which he lost to another Thai, Ratanachai Sor Vorapin), Hugo Rafael Soto (WBA flyweight champion briefly, also challenged for other titles unsucessfully) and Diosdado Gabi who challenged Vic Darchinyan for the IBF flyweight title and lost. Dutch Boy knocked them all out, except for Gabi. He retired in 2002 after making, as mentioned, 38 defenses as the WBF champion. He was like this king in his own country, a minor king who never tried to take the big crown.
