Joe Ko
Who do you think it could be, with Pacquiao, Mayweather, Haye coming to the end soon who will take over? Khan? Alvarez? Ortiz?
iamasadlittleboy
Drian Francisco....OK probably not but this guy has all the tools to be a star. Ortiz is still an accident waiting to happen Ditto Khan Canelo could be it, DeGale or Cleverly seem to be good shouts for UK...
WelshDevilRob
I think Ortiz has the star quality out of the 3. He has the charisma and coolness. He's already been in dramatic fights.

Yer I agree, I think if Khan and Ortiz keep winning I see Khan vs Ortiz HBO PPV in 2012, that would be huge. I think Alveraz is a bit like Hatton, not the best and never will be, but has the fans and the viewing figures.

Whilst I agree with that he always seems 1 fight from a loss. Will a PPV audience keep buying into a guy who picks up a loss every few fights? grapevine241
hopefully none because i hate paying $55... but the most likely? right now id probably say ortiz or canelo. there are only 3 pay-per-view stars in the U.S. at the moment and one is basically retired. gavpowell
Everyone raves about Canelo and he's obviously talented but I don't see this megastar in the making everyone else seems to see. I wouldn't b terribly shocked if he lost before 12 months is out, unless he keeps fighting British challengers who aren't really a challenge. ucgdcxw
I dont see any PPV stars after Floyd/Manny retire. Canelo - If he cant get Matthew Hatton out of there I dont see how he can be a big star. The first time he fights a world class fighter I think he gets beat and the PPV bubble is burst. Ortiz - Loved his fight against Berto but that fight took place in front of a couple of thousand people. He doesn't seem to be a huge draw in the States. Khan - Has the talent & the charisma to be a star. Could be a PPV draw in the UK once he starts fighting the elite but you get the feeling he is only 1 fight away from another Prescott. Siren1927
Canelo will be carefully matched for a few years yet, although I expect him to fight Quintana in the next 12 months. The PR Mexico rivalry and all that

Ortiz is a draw, he filled the Staples Center for his fight with Maidana (who wasnt really know then) Agree about Alvarez he can be PPV but he doesnt look that great. I think Rhodes gives him hell. The_budweiser
From UK Nathan Cleverly i think will be a star and quality PPV fighter in few years time, but not right now Amir Khan already is but in the real fans eyes hes not, possibly in future if he keeps his mouth shut and fights decent fighters. Could even throw Kell Brook in there i just hope Brook isn't a John Murray and they pad his record up without really testing him at the highest level. Degale if he keeps progressing is another one possibly few years down the line. We may even see Ricky Burns in 1 or 2 PPV but it wont be many and he needs to keep winning as well. davemurphy
I agree with ucgdcxw, I'm not sure we in the States have an heir apparent to the PPV mantle, even before his loss Andrew Berto was kind of a weak candidate to fill the void. Ortiz can draw fans in California, but how long can you expect him to be on top with his style? Floyd and Manny might be the last we see of the "Every fight has to be a PPV" Variety. WelshDevilRob
How about Nonito Donaire? Won't they keep building him up? I know he's got promotional wrangles which could get in the way but he is big at his weight and could move through a few divisions.
grapevine241
its amazing to think just how big de la hoya was. beating him was both mayweather and pacquiao's tickets to the big time in the U.S.
londoner
I think a guy like James DeGale could make sales just by the fact people would love to see him lose (similar to Floyd Mayweather and Naseem Hamed). If DeGale continues to improve and win then in a few years time we might see a situation where people are buying his fights to see his mouth closed.
