iamasadlittleboy
Apparently Agbeko has collapsed and they are saying he won't be passed clear to fight on Saturday.
iamasadlittleboy
Kevin Iole and Dan Rafael have confirmed the story. Fight off.
davemurphy
According to Golden Boys Richard Shaeffer, Mares promoter, they're looking for a replacement for Mares to fight, but that's not very likely at this late a date (at least and not have a Showtime quality fight and not a mismatch). Apparently, as it stands now, Vic Darchinyan-Yoohny Perez is going to bumped to Main Event status and will go on.

They need Mares' approval and the approval of Ken Hershman, and so far they haven't gotten that. Hershman is on vacation and Italy so we will know as soon as they get in touch with him, which I imagine that they have already.
iamasadlittleboy
Tomoki Kameda is said to be interested...not a bad fight that one...
Joel Sebastianelli
Tomoki Kameda is said to be interested...not a bad fight that one... Yeah, but he won't win. He's not the champion Kameda brother. This guy is only 12-0-0 I believe, against sub par opposition.
iamasadlittleboy
He's the youngest of the trio and is based in Mexico. The other 2 (Daiki and Koki) are both world champions. At 19 it'll be great exposure for Tomoki who is now 18-0(12) with a controversial win over Stephane Jamoye (who looked very good when he fought over here) being his stand out result. I don't think he'd beat Mares but it'd be a long way from upset of the month if he did.

But I still feel the same way, and it could actually be an upset of the year candidate for sure.

iamasadlittleboy
I don't think it would rival Ishida v Kirkland or even Rachman's win for upset of the month. Eric Morel is another name being banded about. Remember they are basically trying to save the show so any opponent beats no opponent, an easy opponent and a rescheduling of the final would be perfect. Move Perez v Darchinyan to the main event, let Mares fight on the card and play the hype game.
WelshDevilRob
Hope Agbeko is ok and can't fight another day. Was backing him in this fight.

hemanthjava
Multiple sources have advised BoxingScene.com that IBF bantamweight champion Joseph Agbeko is unable to move forward with Saturday's defense against Abner Mares. Agbeko reportedly collapsed on Monday. There is no word on what caused Agbeko's collapse. Agbeko vs Mares was the final bout of Showtime's bantamweight tournament. As of this moment, the co-feature between Vic Darchinyan and Yonnhy Perez is still going forward at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California, with Showtime televising. http://www.sportsbun.com/joseph-agbeko-vs-abner-mares-live-stream-online-boxing/
