The_budweiser
Saturday night at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Victor Ortiz’s victory over previously undefeated Andre Berto to claim the WBC Welterweight Title captivated the sellout crowd, but the enthusiastic patrons were treated to an exciting group of six undercard bouts before the bell to begin the Fight of the Year candidate even rang. In the headlining on the undercard, undefeated welterweight prospect Thomas “The French” Dulorme (11-0-0, 10 KOs) defeated veteran journeyman Harrison Cuello (20-16-3, 15 KOs) by spectacular second round knockout. Utilizing superior speed and footwork to set up combinations, Dulorme cruised through round number one. With thirty seconds elapsed in the second round, Carolina, Puerto Rico’s Dulorme sent Cuello to the canvas with a pair of straight left hands. After receiving the mandatory standing eight count from referee Johnny Callas, Dulorme cautiously treaded forward, picking his shots carefully to avoid being countered. At 1:27 of the round, Dulorme timed a lethal hook perfectly, which knocked Cuello out cold before he hit the canvas. The knockout, strikingly similar to Sergio Martinez’s second round knockout of Paul Williams, confined Cuello to the floor for nearly six minutes, until he was escorted out of the ring under his own power. "Thomas Dulorme is one of the most devastating young punchers," promoter Lou DiBella said. "He is the entire package. Within a year he will be challenging for a world title."
