WelshDevilRob Posted April 9, 2011 Share Posted April 9, 2011 Vargas demolishes Harris In his most impressive performance to date, unbeaten welterweight Jessie Vargas (15-0, 8 KOs) scored a first round stoppage of faded former world champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris (29-6-1, 19 KOs) on Friday night at Buffalo Bill’s Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada. After Vargas had a big round one sending a dazed Harris wobbling back to his corner, Harris told referee Joe Cortez that he didn’t wish to continue. The knockout streak and unblemished ledger of super middleweight terror Bastie Samir (10-0-1, 10 KOs) ended as he went the distance for the first time and was held to a draw by Lester Gonzalez (11-3-2, 6 KOs) over six. Scores were 58-56 Gonzalez, 58-56 Samir and 57-57. Jr middleweight Eddie Gomez (4-0, 3 KOs) also went the distance for the first time, taking a six round unanimous decision over Roberto Lopez (4-2-2, 1 KO); Female welterweight Tatina Anderson (3-1-1, 3 Kos), of Las Vegas, and Lissette Medel (2-1-1), of Maywood, Calif. drew in a high-action four-rounder, scores being 39-37 Anderson and 38-38 even; In the opening bout, lightweight Paul Green (2-1) won a split decision over Tokyo’s Kai Zama (5-3, 3 KOs), with scores of 39-37 twice for Green and 39-37 Zama; Heavyweight Quadtrine Hill (4-2, 1 KO) suffered his second pro loss by unanimous decision to Alexander Flores (4-0, 2 KOs).
