WelshDevilRob
Amir Khan is fighting Chris Algieri on May 30th. Thoughts? https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Mrut8_rxmV0
Ton
Re: Amir Khan announces next opponent Bit shit that considering in the last week I had heard rumbles of potentially fighting Broner and him supposedly agreeing to a fight with Brook. He still has his eyes set on Manny or Floyd as well so maybe this is his winnable keep busy fight before he goes for the big payday.
uppercutter
Re: Amir Khan announces next opponent He turned down Brook and he turned down the much better fight demanded by the IBF against Timothy Bradley Jr. Is he hoping to beat Algieri "better" than Manny did as a bargaining chip? Like @Ton wrote, Kahn's team are obviously just trying to protect his chin, until they can score a Pac or Floyd payday. Disgusting. Amir and LSC should both retire and open a restaurant together. The house specialty could be Duck A'la orange. They could also have a Scottish menu, but their Haggis recipe would have to leave out the heart & guts. They are protecting him with a not so strong puncher hoping a big pay day with Pacquiao or Mayweather.
Ton
Re: Amir Khan announces next opponent It's not so illogical that he gets 2 paydays, should he actually come out of a loss vs Floyd or Manny with a "he did quite well". His stock could potentially rise and thus still get in the ring with Brook. Especially if it still brings in big money for Brook. Ideally that would happen the other way round with the winner going on to fight the winner of Manny / Floyd and 1 missing out altogether. Seems odd that Khan has for years seem to of had this vision that he's on a collision course with one of the two or even both, despite his setbacks. Seemingly he's not a million miles away from it either!
GEOIMAGEZ
Re: Amir Khan announces next opponent I don't mind this fight as a stay busy fight for Khan while he waits for the May/Pac winner. I think Khan is approaching the end of his career aD he has to choose his fight carefully. I think he beats Algieri rather easy but probably won't stop him, although I think he should go for the KO. Imagine being able to boast that he KOd Algieri and neither Provodnikov or Pacquiao could?

Imagine being able to boast that he KOd Algieri and neither Provodnikov or Pacquiao could? --- Algieri won't be an easy fight because he's bigger, stronger and more awkward than Khan who ain't the nifty boxer he and his supporters think. Of course with the proliferation of bogus ref interferences and calls, any one can be KOed without even being knocked down or hurt. Khan was heavily protected by Cortez against Maidana who had his number deep under several times in that fight. I wouldn't bet on Algieri because this is likely a decision with Khan being the money fighter, but I wouldn't be surprised if Khan got beat. He was right to hold out for Manny or Floydy, but he picked the wrong fighter if he wants to look good. He won't.
blackrican23
Re: Amir Khan announces next opponent only way khan lands floyd is if he looks bad beating algieri , beating broner was the card to take. He would have trumped up support here on US soil and forced floyds hand beating algieri keeps him irrelevant as TMT will state. If Pac wins does anyone think Top Rank will give haymon a chance at redemption , i dont think aside from pac/may senile bob and al christ will be doing much co work

QBoxing
Re: Amir Khan announces next opponent I'll take that fight, although I would have much rather see Chris Algieri stay at 140lbs and try to win back the WBO title. His lack of punching power gives him little chance against Amir, but he will make a fight of it so long as his face and chin hold up. I doubt he would be able to pick apart Khan but it would be some feat for him if he could. After all, Khan is a former Junior Welterweight and Algieri should keep his physical advantages in this fight. We'll see how it works out for him, but I'm going with Khan by T/KO in the late rounds (9-12) as of now.
