QBoxing
I thought this would be relevant to note. Juan Martin Elorde and Juan Miguel Elorde, grandchildren of Filipino boxing legend Gabriel "Flash" Elorde, both won at the Metro Manila on March 25th. They were boxing on a show promoted by none other than Johnny S. Elorde, son of "Flash". Juan Miguel seems to be the better of the two. Juan Martin is 30, Miguel 28, and both have one loss on their records (Juan Miguel is 18-1 9 KO's, Juan Martin is 16-1-1 7 KOs). Juan Martin most recently fought for the WBO Asia Pacific Featherweight title against hard-nosed Japanese fighter Hirotsugu Yamamoto. He won, seemingly, on only a second round knockdown. The fight was scored 115-113 across the board, perhaps, revealing some of Juan Martin's flaws against a tough opponent. Juan Miguel also won a belt on the March 25th show. He boxed Thailand's Terdchai Duwangmontree (birthname) for the WBO Asia Pacific Super Bantamweight title. He won much more clearly, 100-90 and 99-91 x 2 against the 14-2 boxer. He appears to have made progress since his loss to a 6-0 fighter in 2011. At 28, he may be nearing his prime and could just be one to look out for in the coming months/years. Or not. I just thought this was worth mentioning. Both seem to be making something of their careers on an international level -- those Asia Pacific belts being a token of that -- I guess. You might be hearing more about at least Juan Miguel, if not Juan Martin, in the near future.

iamasadlittleboy
Re: "Flash" Elorde's grandchildren win WBO Asia Pacific title bouts Both of them seem to get attention on the Pinoy websites. Can't see either being "big names" but at this level they will likely have decent success.
