WelshDevilRob
Former world title challenger Rendall Munroe will return to the ring next month in an eight round contest in Sunderland. The Leicester binman has taken a well-earned break since his courageous defeat to WBC super-bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka in October. Promoter Frank Maloney is hoping Munroe (21-2) will get the opportunity to regain his European title later this year before once again challenging for a major strap. "The European title is vacant right now, but if Rendall wins in April I hope that he will be made official challenger," said Maloney. "Rendall proved he belonged in world class against Nishioka who is a very good champion and the WBC has kept him in their top five. "I have no doubt that if Rendall can get another three good wins he will get another world title fight." The April 9 Rainton Meadows bill will be headed by Darlington hero Stuart Hall, who will be hoping to keep the Lonsdale belt for good when he defends his British bantamweight title against Liverpudlian John Donnelly. . The_budweiser
Be good if Maloney could get Molitor back to the UK end of the year to set up a match with Munroe.
WelshDevilRob
Rendall Munroe's opponent in his April fight in the north east is set to be confirmed as Middlesborough's Chris Riley, reports BBC Radio Leicester. The Leicester boxer was confirmed as fighting at Houghton-le-Spring's Rainton Meadows Arena on 9 April. And his manager Mike Shinfield says he expects Riley to fight his man in the non-title super-bantanweight contest. Munroe's fight will be his first since he lost to Toshiaki Nishioka in their WBC title contest in Japan in October. Source: BBC
londoner
Jason Booth is challenging Kiko Martinez for the vacant European super bantamweight title in Spain on April 15. Would be great if Booth wins and then sets up a clash with Munroe.
