Faulks
Saul Alvarez's Handlers Feel He's Ready For Big Fights Guadalajara, Jal. - The handlers of junior middleweight contender, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, believe their boxer is ready for the big names. If Alvarez, 20-years-old, defeats Matthew Hatton on March 5 to claim the vacant WBC 154-pound title, he would become the youngest boxer from Jalisco to secure a WBC world championship. "We're happy because we made this short-term goal, which is to make Saul a champion and he's prepared to do so on March 5 against Matthew Hatton. We are calm and I think it is about fulfilling a dream but we want more," said his mentor, Edison Reynoso. "Two or three fights ago, I had already planned that we were going to target a world title this year. He advanced a little quicker than expected, but we're ready to go and win it in America." On Saturday the 25th, they will travel to California for fight, which takes place in Anaheim. "To be the best you have to go and prove it. Saul has matured much faster than we thought. We've already had five fights at 150 pounds, which is where wanted to manage his career, by fighting above welterweight but just below the junior middleweight limit. There is no advantage or disadvantage. At this level you do not rely on anything," Reynoso said. http://www.boxingscene.com/saul-alvarezs-handlers-feel-hes-ready-big-fights--36255? davemurphy
Sounds like Alvarez's braintrust is up till all hours of the night worrying about Matt Hatton, huh? grin// Just curious, but can anyone name the current youngest Jailsco native to win a world title? Can anybody tell me the names of other Jailsco fighers besides Saul and his Brothers? Is it famous for it's fighters and if so then who else is from there? I know Barerra and the Marquez Brothers are from Mexico City, Zarate from a Mexico City suburb, Morrales and Zarragoza from Tijuana, and the Chavez's from Sinoloa. Is this a "Who's the most famous person buried in Grants Tomb?" type of question here?
