WelshDevilRob
Reed is the guy smashed in a round or maybe 2 by Herbie Hide years ago? I suppose after Toney's embarressing 'tap-out' he needs a confidence booster.

davemurphy
Sad that even at this point, James Toney has to stoop to this level to find an easy confidence builder, Reed is like the totally shot version of the journeyman to correspond with the totally shot level that Toney has become. sugarboy
This is no-sense match in my opinion, Toney is a great champion to me, but his time in the ring is over (i think he can be a great master of boxing if he want). The last Toney's fight with he showed his great boxing's class was the first match against Samuel Peter (to me James deserved the winner by little but clear margine, 2-3 points). gavpowell
Yeah, but then in the rematch he managed to get outboxed by Sam Peter, by which stage even I thought he should go.

Yeah, Gav, but he followed that up with a big win over Hassim Rahman, who I think we all agree was at the peak of his game :)

I remember he had a pretty padded record at the time and not surprising he got a shot at the then fledgling WBO. I think Jimmy Thunder holds the record for quickest Heavyweight KO (over Crawford Grimsley) though that was a few years back so may have been beaten? Grimley v Thunder (13 seconds) doesn't seem to have been a title fight (boxrec.com) I only counted the big 4, but Shannon Briggs has an IBU defence of 17 seconds against John Sargent. Was just wondering if the Thunder win was the fastest of all-time regardless of a title being on the line, I remember Sky Sports News showing the KO and think they stated it was the fastest. Probably record is held by some Alabama fighter. grin//
