Zaveck retains IBF title

IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck (31-1, 18 KOs) retained his belt with a fifth round TKO over Paul Delgado (25-10-1, 4 KOs) on Friday at the sold-out Sportspark Arena in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Zaveck dropped Delgado twice in round two, and finished him in round five in the one-sided bout. Referee Benny Decroos finally waved in off in the fifth as the cut and battered Delgado sank to his knees. Zaveck, who made his third successful defense, has now set his sights on invading the USA in search of big fights.

Unbeaten female middleweight star Christina Hammer (9-0, 7 KOs) punished Diana Kiss (6-3-1, 5 KOs) en route to an eighth round TKO. The battered and bloodied Kiss did not come out for round eight, allowing Hammer to claim the vacant WBF belt. Hammer is also the WBO champion.

Light heavyweight Denis Simcic (26-1, 14 KOs) defended his WBF International belt with a ten round unanimous decision over Sandro Siproshvili (24-8, 11 KOs). Some question about the scoring, but Simcic was up at least of seven points on all cards entering the tenth.

In other action, unbeaten welterweight Sergio Vartanov (9-0, 4 KOs) stopped Jeis Tovmaszjan (2-7, 1 KO) in round three. Time was 2:20.
