Faulks
Prizefighter winner and former British title challenger Michael Lomax has stepped in to face unbeaten lightweight prospect Frankie Gavin at the Youk Hall in Bethnal Green,London on Saturday night. Gavin was to have fought former European lightweight champ Jason Cook but the Welshman failed a test weigh in on Wednesday. Earlier in the month promoter Frank Warren saw his show fall apart when Tony Bellow was forced to cancel his Commonwealth light-heavyweight title defence against Ovil McKenzie after sustaining a hand injury. Then Cook was ruled out after failing to make the agreed contractual weight. There was a time when the entire show was in doubt but Warren has confirmed the entire card will go ahead as scheduled. "It’s been a very frustrating few days with various people pulling out, but the show is one hundred per cent on," said Warren. The appointment of Lomax could prove to be a much tougher prospect to face than Cook. Lomax is younger, fresher and naturally biigger than the inactive Cook.
