Junior Witter furious at Khan snub

Former WBC light-welterweight champion Junior Witter has reacted angrily to missing out on the chance to take on WBA champion Amir Khan.

Witter had been lined up to have another shot at a world title fight against Khan when negotiations with European champion Paul McCloskey broke down.

But having had a British marquee fight snatched from him after Khan and McCloskey finally reached an agreement to fight in Manchester on April 16, Witter has rejected concerns that he would not be able to make the weight.

Witter makes his welterweight bow against Victor Lupo in Canada on February 19, but he insists he would have been able to drop back down under 140 lbs.

Having been under fire for the mismatch between David Haye and Audley Harrison in November, Sky Sports were reportedly unwilling to gamble on Witter.

"It's ridiculous. Their excuses were about me making the weight but it boils down to motivation," he said.

"I haven't got the motivation to box Joe Bloggs at light-welterweight but Amir Khan would be different.

Im 50/50 on if he would give him a better test than McCloskey.

I do believe that it would of been a lot easier to sell it though as when i speak to my none boxing fans they are all like McCloskey who?

i think it would be a better fight than McCloskey aslong as Witters got about 70% left
