TheExecutioner
Tyson Fury's bid to add Frans Botha's name to his resume has hit a hitch after the South African was refused a license to fight in the UK. The BBBoC cited the 42 year olds age as an issue but Frank Maloney has countered by saying George Foreman won the world title at 45. Whilst Botha has nowhere near the class of Foreman at 45, Botha would still be competitive against Fury What do people think? http://theboxingpalace.forumotion.com/t1789-british-board-of-boxing-refuse-to-sanction-tyson-fury-vs-francois-botha Kingpin Kevin Johnson has offered to step in http://www.boxingscene.com/kevin-johnson-offers-replace-botha-fight-tyson-fury--35149
Sheils
Following the Haye vs Harrison fight the BBBoC may be trying to avoid another poor heavyweight fight. Fury should have won it, but there was a danger that it could have been too much of a one-sided contest against the aging buffalo. Probably the best decision. Bring on Fury vs Harrison, but could that also be a one sided contest....

londoner
The BBBC do seem like one of the more responsible board of controls around so i think they've probably got this right.
iamasadlittleboy
The BBBofC who are so stuck in the past they've ONLY JUST changed the accidental headbutt rule?

iamasadlittleboy
BBBofC aren't even near perfect though. Things like the referee being the sole scorer in certain title fights (Fury v McDermott springs to mind here) until very recently was another example of how dated they are. Been told by a local pro that the BBBofC "couldn't organise a round of toast" which seems apt with some of their odd decisions.

As long as the toast has one with peanut butter and one marmite, i'm happy. LOL. I see your point though.
WelshDevilRob
The BBB of C have alot more integrity than the vast majority of governing boards. Botha is washed up and just a name. He'll more likely just be coming for a payday and put up a limited effort. No over 40 should be allowed to fight in the UK unless they are say a Top 20 contender. (on a World level) Its not worth the risk for the BBB of C to license 'has beens'
dondada
Does another promoter have a show on the same date as this one?
