Faulks
Amir scoops American honour Amir Khan's blockbuster with Marcos Maidana has been named the 2010 fight of the year by America's boxing writers. The 12-round classic, shown live on Sky Box Office, picked up the prestigious award this week as the Boxing Writers Association of America handed out their annual awards. Khan's Las Vegas debut, in which he had Maidana down in the first and was out on his feet himself in the 10th, was handed the Ali-Frazier Fight of the Year award - a massive boost to his Stateside profile. "Watching Khan versus Maidana was one of the highlights of my time in boxing, as it captured all the elements that make this sport great... drama, skill, action, changes in momentum and courage," said Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer. "Both men should be very proud of their performances." Khan's trainer Freddie Roach was also honoured, picking up the Trainer of the Year award for the third year in succession for masterminding Khan's rise and another sensational year for Manny Pacquiao. Middleweight Sergio Martinez's phenomenal 12 months, in which he beat Kelly Pavlik and then produced a stunning knockout to avenge a 2009 defeat by Paul Williams, earned him the Sugar Ray Robinson Fighter of the Year plaudits. Robert 'The Ghost' Guerrero, whose wife Casey is battling luekemia, was given the Crawford award for Courage in Overcoming Adversity, while Golden Boy publicist Hank Caplan was handed the Marvin Kohn Good Guy award. Mickey Ward - subject of the upcoming film The Fighter - picked up the James A Farley award for Honesty and Integrity in Boxing. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12183_6702125,00.html? londoner
I thought Khan vs Maidana was fight of the year also. Just behind that, i had Soto vs Antillon.

Crusader
I preferred Segura vs Calderon The only Italian boxing website voted with high percentages Khan-Maidana, but the fight of year was elected Segura-Calderon
Sheils
Good to see Khan making a mark accross the Atlantic in the ring - and then getting recognition for it outside.
