iamasadlittleboy
When it comes to the greatest fights in history we often look at long drawn out wars, both fighters shelling each other with their biggest bombs yet getting it back. Fighters like Gatti v Ward, Morales v Barrera and Castillo v Corrales, each fighter having their moments, maybe a little bit of controversy (such as the gum shield incidents from Corrales) or a tide swing such as Cotto v Margarito and Calderon v Segura. Though for some these are meals to be enjoyed in their entirety, what about the short, quick snack, the 1 round contests that are not stop thrilling. 3 minutes (or less) of excitement, 2 fighters waging a head to head battle of attrition that sees one man beaten and one man walking away the glorious’ winner. Here we are going to look at 5 of the best 1 round fights. http://hubpages.com/hub/Boxings-great-1-round-fights
brooklynbrawler
Some great fights in there....was the Holt vs Torres fight not ended by a headbutt? Definitely looked like it anyway, but can't remember if anything ever came of it? EDIT: Just watched a slow-mo and it might have been a right hook that was the knockout blow, but you can't really tell... Some fight anyway! iamasadlittleboy
A headbutt seemed to knock him unconscious then it was followed by a punch, Torress has only fought once since, stopping Raul Pinzon in 10.
WelshDevilRob
Lennox Lewis 1st round Ko over Andrew Golota was fantastic. So many Polish fans in the crowd expecting their man to win and he got annihalated. Golota was tipped by alot of people for the win after two strong performances that sent Riddick Bowe into retirement. Another good one was Nigel Benns mugging of the tough Iran Barkely - 3 knockdowns and allover.
iamasadlittleboy
Theirs a host missing (I'm about to add a 6th due to complaints from various users) Though the Gman was in a few great ones whilst Quarry v Shavers was another great one. Crusader
I have seen recently in Youtube two devastating heavyweight ko's.. Jimmy Thunder -Crawford Grimsley e Joe Mesi vs daVarryl Williamson..
Sheils
A good selection. I remember the Morrison - Bent KO, it was a classic. Benn's 1 rd KO of the Blade was another (as mentioned above). I suppose my all time classic would by Tyson v's Spinks.
WelshDevilRob
I have seen recently in Youtube two devastating heavyweight ko's.. Jimmy Thunder -Crawford Grimsley e Joe Mesi vs daVarryl Williamson.. The Thunder vs Grimsley made the TV sports News in the UK. Was something like 18 seconds? Was quite a surprisingly quick win as Grimsley had fought well against the old George Foreman and gone the distance. Thunder, I used to like watching fight - very limited but always inshape and a big hitter.
iamasadlittleboy
Doing a similar one with UK fighters (v anyone), got the Benn fight, Lewis v Golota, Hide v Reed (that should have been stopped after the first knockdown folks...though it's still a record)...
