WelshDevilRob
Matthysee stops Corley in 8th Corley down eight times World ranked Lucas Matthysee (28-1, 26 KOs) of Argentina punished former world champion Demarcus “Chop Chop” Corley (36-16-1, 22 KOs) in route to and 8th round TKO victory on Friday night at the Polideportivo Vicente Polimeni in Mendoza, Argentina. The game plan was evident for Matthysee to work work the body as he did this relentlessly. Matthysee was in control from the very beginning though Corley held his own. Corley was down an unheard of eight times in the fight including three times in the final round where the referee rightfully waved the fight off after the last knockdown. Corley to his credit beat the count rather easily each time but was a lot worse for wear after the knockdowns in round eight. Matthysee picked up the vacant WBO Intercontinental super lightweight title with the win. Golden Boy Promotions and Aranobox promoted the event. In a non-title flyweight bout, reigning WBA light flyweight champion Juan Carlos Reveco (26-1, 15 KOs) cruised to an uninspired ten round unanimous decision over journeyman Miguel Tellez (19-14-1, 6 KOs). Scores were 100-89 on all cards. Source: www.fightnews.com
donlevy
Still wondering how the hell Corley lasted the distance against Maidana. He(Maidana) did look disinterested and tired after the first half of the fight - might have underestimated him. Matthysse is a pretty good fighter. He really deserved the decison against Judah by a couple of points too.

WelshDevilRob
Must have been some Corley ribs broke in that fight. He just kept going down from the left hook. Interesting fight between a guy approaching his best and a man well faded. Not even sure if any punches landed for the last knockdown - think the ref waved it off, as had enough of seeing 'Chop Chop' on the canvas.
