Yuri Foreman-Pawel Wolak For NABF Belt

By Lem Satterfield

New Jersey junior middleweight (154 pounds) Pawel Wolak and former WBA king Yuri Foreman of Brooklyn, New York will fight for the NABF belt on the Showtime pay per view distributed under card of a main event featuring WBA junior middleweight king Miguel Cotto against ex-belt-holder Ricardo Mayorga at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas on March 12.

"We spoke with [NABF representative] Joe Dwyer, and we're very excited at this proverbial big shot," said Wolak's manager, Ivan Edwards. "This is one of those things that we have been waiting for."

The 29-year-old Wolak (28-1, 18 knockouts) and the 30-year-old Foreman (28-1, eight KOs) are part of a stacked pay per view event headlined by Mayorga (29-7-1, 22 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua, and, Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs), of Puerto Rico, that will also highlight the return from a 14-month layoff of former world champion female boxer, Christy Martin (49-5-3, 31 KOs).

Also expected on the card, which is being promoted by the 79-year-old duo of Top Rank Promotions' CEO, Bob Arum, and, Don King, is Gary Shaw-promoted, lightweight (135 pounds) contender, Lenny Zappavigna (25-0, 17 KOs) of Australia pursuing his third consecutive stoppage and his first world title against IBF belt-holder Miguel Vazquez (27-3, 12 KOs).
