Was Ruiz actually that durable?

We all heard how he was tough and was only stopped once prior to the Haye fight....though the guys he was facing weren't world level punchers in between Tua and Haye. Remember he was dropped twice by Golota and James bleeding Toney dropped him as well. For a tough guy it's funny he avoided/was avoided by so many punchers as well (Tyson, Lewis, the Klits, Briggs, Brewster, Hide, Arreola, Peter).

Was he durable or just lucky/well managed?

Knew I forgot something. How come he managed not to face any noted punchers Rob? Think guys like Wlad, Vitali and Lennox saw no point in beating him? He turned down a shot at Samuel peter as well (Well he won an eliminator to face Peter but never took it, instead facing Valuev)

Ruiz was a tough guy and had a extremly good conditioning, Klitschko's didnt go near him because he holds just as much as they do and Ruiz was mostly getting his fights through the WBA

are you really implying that the klitschkos ducked john ruiz? or did i read that wrong...

No not ducked, just smart move not to fight, a fighter arguable as boring as them.

Klitschkos would have beat him.

Ruiz had some sort of special relationship with the WBA, because he became mandatory so damn often, sometimes without even fighting, that he just went on a roundabout for title shots with them.

The guy wasn't durable at all, he was a spoiler, but never fought that many decent fighters in his time at all, and most that he did face, he lost to.
