Klitschkos give Haye a choice

(CNN) -- Brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko have sent Britain's WBA world heavyweight champion David Haye a New Year message, saying they are both ready to fight him in 2011.

Wladimir holds three of the current world heavyweight belts, Vitali has the prestigious WBC title, and Haye the other.

Match-ups between Haye and the Ukrainian pair would help unify the heavyweight crown as well as being a money-spinner.

Haye, who has made two successful defenses of his title, was due to fight Wladimir in 2009, but pulled out with a back injury.

Meanwhile, Wladimir's bout with another Briton, Dereck Chisora, was called off earlier this month, with the triple champion citing injury, paving the way for an early clash with Haye.

"We promise that in 2011 the fight against Haye will come," read the statement, released through Bild.de.

"We want this fight at all costs. He may choose against which of us he wants us to step into the ring to lose his world title."

Haye's manager Adam Booth told the Press Association. "We are now perfectly positioned to get together and make this fight with Wladimir Klitschko.

"Despite the fact we know we bring more UK television money to the table, David and I are happy to split the entire pot 50-50 and grant Wladimir the deal he has wanted since day one."

Vitali Klitschko said on Tuesday that his brother would be the first to take on the 30-year-old Haye, with him waiting in the wings.

Chisora, upset when his fight with Wladimir Klitschko was pulled, has been promised another opportunity, but they may now have to wait.

this will not sway haye

I look at it as; Haye is negotiating with the younger brother Wlad and has agreed to the 50/50. Now that he has - Wlad is pooping his pants and offering it over to his big brother.

Haye knocks either one out just the suspense for boxing works longer if he takes out chinny before the oldman. grin//

if you say so rob smell//

to me it looks like the klitschkos are attempting to close every possible loophole that haye can use to dodge the fight again. if haye doesnt accept this time he will be even more of a joke than he is now. (i was going to type "lose any remaining credibility" but that would imply that haye actually has some credibility that he can lose) :D

I think the K2's DO operate as a Tag Team, it's been in a few of their contracts that the other brother gets a match should one of the brothers actually lose....but in Haye's case, he's got to start somewhere. I've got no problem with it if he beats one Bro and then backs out of having to face Brother #2, but just get into the Ring with ONE of them!

I think your version is more accurate than mine. I'd be pretty amazed if this fight doesn't come off this time.

“We promise that in 2011 the fight against Haye will come,” said the Klitschko Brothers in a joint statement on BILD. “We want this fight at all costs! He can choose which of us he wants to step into the ring against to lose his world title.”

What kind of angle you think they are vie-ing for?

Somebody's up to somthing!

In no other sport can a player pick who he wants to face and when!

Crap!

I smell a blame game, balls in your court type crap!

Bullocks I think is what you say!

I think Haye kos klits and if he has the mettle, UD vitali,

I feel he could render the jabbing pines useless.

HOw hard is it to pot shot someone who does nothing but; one, one, one, two. one, one, one, one, one,.

one, one one one one one two, one two, one one one one one one one one one oen oedn oen oenoneonoenoeononeoneoneoneonoenoeoneoeoneoneoneoneonoenoe

I'm not knocking the guy for using his advantage but Haye could very well work around all that with his athleticism.

The Klits may appear one-dimensional, but they are infact, far from it.

Wlad may stand behind his jab and wear his opponent down, but it has served him well for the best part of 7 years now.

If noone can find an answer for it, then there's nothing to stop him sticking to the same plan again and again.

It's dull, but very effective.

Haye is fast, but he'll have to turn in a career-best performance to even come close to winning.

If he adopts the Valuev tactics, he'll drop a wide UD for being too inactive.

If he goes in with his usual tactics of a low left hand, and looking for an opening, then he'll have his head jabbed off, and probably lose by KO.

He'll have to mix up his punches, stay active and alert, and believe me, Wlad will be ready to answer whatever Haye has to throw at him.

I'd like to see Haye winning, even if just to bring us the huge second fight against the other brother, but he'll be a heavy underdog in my eyes.

As for Vitali, he appears to be fading, so he may have caught him at just the right time.

However, he is tough as teak, has power in both hands, and even at this late stage, is very very active, and can throw upwards of 1000 punches, which is immense for a heavyweight fighter.

It's REALLY REALLY hard if they keep smacking you in the face, plus Haye's chin is questionable, as is his willingness to go to war(look at the Valuev fight, and then factor in that Wlad can bang him with hooks or straights from either hand, or even uppercuts).

Vitali is the easier fight in my opinion, and I think rather like Kessler v Calzaghe, people have based his mystique on a performance against a great fighter in which he lost.

I would base Vitali's mystique rightly on the high level KO ratio coupled with the fact he's never been legitimately knocked out or even really rocked.

You do have to take his opponent record into account though to counter this, but it still says a lot about the guy that he can carry on doing it at this stage.

Sure he's good, but I just think he is unfairly given credit above and beyond Wladimir, and yet while Wlad was quietly unifying rthe division and taking sih s potentially career-ending lumps along he way, vitali was being derided for being permanently injured, only having fought three very fat past-it heavies, not even facing Rahman etc.

Gav-

With all due respect to Haye, and I'm not just saying that as lip service, I REALLY DO mean it, if he fought the Fight of his Life then I still think it comes up short against the best effort of either K2. I think we need for David to fight the Fight of his Life and whichever Klitschko he faces to do no better than a B or B- effort.

Wladimir Klitschko: "David Haye is an Easy Payday"

By Terence Dooley

Wladimir Klitschko is showing very little Christmas cheer or charity when it comes to the subject of a unification fight with WBA title holder David Haye. Wlad, who holds the IBO, IBF and WBO titles, believes that a Haye-Klitschko showdown is nailed on for 2011 and will be an easy payday for either himself or older brother, and WBC boss, Vitali.

“One of us will take on Haye next year and whoever it is will send him into retirement by putting him on the canvas,” said Wlad when speaking to the Daily Express.

He added: “It doesn't matter which one it is, both of us are far too big and strong for David Haye, who will be an easy payday for us. Haye is rated only in his own head, outside that nobody rates him.

“Haye is a good one for talking himself up but he lost as a cruiserweight [Carl Thompson in 2004] and he will be nothing for us to beat. He will leave the arena embarrassed if he ever sets foot in the ring with us.”

Both camps have set an early-January deadline for the conclusion of the protracted negotiations. Failure to agree terms could see both brothers seek other opponents, a move that would leave Haye, on a retirement deadline in 2011, out in the cold.

However, the fact that both camps have cranked up the trash talk in recent days suggests that they are on a collision course or, perhaps, that the Christmas break has left a few too many boxing writers kicking their heels.

I didn't think it was possible, but I actually believe I'm hearing a worrisome bit of overconfidence from Team Klitschko. They need to guard against assuming that Haye is just another one of these slow moving stiffs that don't have a clue how to avoid a jab. This sounds like a pretty smug interview, doesn't it?
