Wlad seems to prefer Adamek, won't discuss next opponent

The heavyweight champion according to IBF, WBO and IBO, Wladimir Klitschko, is still recovering from an abdominal injury that caused him to recently cancel a planned fight with British boxer Dereck Chisora. Klitschko spoke about the reasoning for not fighting in the United States in his last couple of ring appearances.

"In the United States, Vitali boxed there last year. We as promoters, when choosing the locations for the fights, have to factor in many things - including the interest of the public with respect to the fight, the availability of arenas, the interest of the televsion networks to broadcast the bouts and so on," Klitschko told Bleak.

Klitschko would not discuss the name of his likely next opponent. He says it could be WBA champion David Haye, or maybe top contender Tomasz Adamek, or maybe someone else. Klitschko doesn't want to say anything until he is cleared to fight by a doctor.

"Maybe my opponent will be Adamek. Let's not jump the gun. First, I need to recover from the injury. And only then will it be possible to argue on who has the greatest chance to become my next opponent. How is my recovery going? Regarding the state of my health, I prefer to speak only with my treating doctor," Klitschko said.

"We as promoters", sounds like crap.

You pick the destination based on seats and we the fans will do a damn fine job of generating interest for you free of charge!

That's great that the Klits are mentioning Adamek.

I thought he injured a different body part? Strange?

He's right enough to mention it, as a fight in the US sees pointless, with the network blackout for them on HBO.

I'm sure Showtime would pick up their fights, as would HBO if it were Haye or Adamek.

Again, I don't see the point in fighting in the US, when they can fill up an arena in Germany though.

Same goes for the Haye fight.

It could be fought at primetime Europe times in either Germany or the UK, and help more of the people who have followed the pair of them to see the fight at a reasonable hour.

I used to like sitting up for the late ones, but I must be getting old now! mlol/

Nothing more annoying than falling asleep on the couch at 3.30am, and then waking up at 5am as the winner is celebrating! :P

We are watching a lot of politics play out here. Can somebody please tell me what I missed re Wlad/chisora? Yeah, I know he was supposed to have torn his abs or something like that but instead he pulled out of the fight, seemingly jumped into a business suit, hit the boardroom and asked us all to forget about Chisora like he was a one-night stand. Now he's using Adamek to leverage a bigger bout with Haye, when I thought he dumped Chisora just for Haye.

Wlad, what did you see in Chisora that made you decide to pretend he was never on the table, or was is true that ticket sales were horrendous and a pay-cut was presented?

Completely agree. Adameks name is being used to force Haye's hand into fighting. Still, if Haye doesn't come through then Adamek is the best opponent to face in the US at the present time.
