Tony Thompson vs Odlanier Solis in Turkey

Ahmet Oner best get to practicing his strokes on the timekeeper's bell for this one. Solis is gonna need a ref tied on Thompson as a straight jacket to survive the fight and then all Turkish judges to win the decision.

In any fair jurisdiction, I'd favor Thompson by easy knockout. Leif Larsen had Solis backing up all night and whooped him a new oner as far as I saw regardless of official corrupt results. Tony ain't in for no canned fight like the Solis princess fairy career, so we'll see if Tony can whoop the whole Turkish state with one glove tied behind his back in this one.

I think if solis Shows up in a decent shape he is going to beat Thompson easily as solis still has huge Talent but he is just too lazy... but anything Öner is involved turns out the be a Farce... i remember that airich fight a couple years ago where Öner jumped down from his seat to ring the bell on his own right to save airich... or his "legendary" brawl with members of a security Company during a Television broadcast...

--- Can you point to a professional fight where he uses his "huge" talent to significantly outclass a credible opponent? He was nothing but a punching bag for Leif Larsen who got no credit for splitting his guard like an axe to kindling.

well,it needs some talent to win the olympics and amateur world championships...

his amateur record was 227w - 14l...

but for beeing a professional he is just too lazy...

he made some Money during his professional carreer and now he has achieved his main Goal which is living in Florida...

like most of the cuban fighters he lacks in professionality...

but to say hes got no Talent....... mhhhhhh.....

but to say hes got no Talent at all is just wrong in my opinion...

Are we putting Solis in the same class as Ali and these so called many others??? I just saw an average Fat Pro HW myself

im not putting solis in the same class as ali.. but neither i put him in the same class as Harrison... i was just replying to you probably giving the worst example of a olympic Gold medalist who turned pro...

I'm with Mr Blonde here, Solis has, or at least did have, talent. He was far too lazy to make the most of it though like so many other Cubans across the weights. I'd say a bigger waste however was Yan Barthelemy a world and Olympic amateur champion who...well...lets just say flopped.

--- Well, to be clear, everyone has a level of talent. Solis had amateur talent, but I have yet to see any talent expressed at the pro level against at least a fringe contender level fighter.

As far as being fat, Big George and others have beat better sculpted fighters. Under modern rules with 12 rounds and KDs counting so highly, it pays to be on the heavy side. Andy Ruiz looks and fights fatter, but shows more talent in just a few rounds of boxing than I've ever seen out of Solis. He's with a sham promoter in Oner and is pretty much circling the drain at this point in time. Whether Thompson will be allowed to have at him or has to wear the ref as an overcoat is the only issue that remains to be seen. We pretty much know Thompson won't win a decision in Turkey.

i dont see why Thompson wouldnt get a decision win over there in Turkey???

ist not Germany where the fight is beeing held...

and now with bringing up examples of chubby guys which are good and others not so good... i dont know if that makes any sense when we throw names at each other of which one has the more Talent...

you have your opinion,i have mine...

All i wanted to say is that solis could have been a very good pro if he would have taken the professional sports serious...

and in my opinion,a fit solis can be a threat to anyone out there in heavies...

--- Oner looks to be a sham again. The fight was announced as in Turkey, but I see boxrec shows no fights for either fighter, so the thing's a dud until Oner gets his act together.

BTW, Oner's put on several shows in Turkey over the years with specious officiating. He has to walk a tighter rope in Germany, but still puts in some nonsense. Get back to you when a real update is offered.
