Warrant issued for Mayweather Jr.

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas judge has issued an outstanding arrest warrant for boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. on a misdemeanor battery complaint alleging he poked a security guard in the face several times.

Las Vegas police Officer Bill Cassel said Thursday that the warrant issued Dec. 8 requires Mayweather to turn himself in or face arrest at any time.

Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Tony Abbatangelo signed the arrest warrant for Mayweather after a Dec. 7 hearing, then immediately recalled it. It was reinstated after prosecutors complained Mayweather had received special treatment.

The battery allegation stems from a Nov. 15 confrontation over parking tickets between the undefeated champion and a security guard outside Mayweather's home.

Mayweather faces a a six-month jail sentence and a $1,000 fine if convicted.

What a soft arse, should of give Floyd a cross shot and made a name for himself. I think a payout from the yanks version of te news of the world (if they have one) would dwarf an out of court settlement he's going to end up with

lol - and a fair comment. I imagine the fact that it was Maywether Jr is the reason that this case has legs. Still, Mayweather should be cautious as there will be a judge somewhere looking to make a name for themself too!

The security guard can see $$$ from probably a nothing incident. Its like when footballers go out, chat to a hot bird, maybe grab her arse and then when later on he snubs her for a better bird across the bar she accuses him of sexual assault.

Aye, there might not be anything in it, but what makes Floyd think he can swagger about doing whatever he wants to whoever he wants?

It's the height of arrogance, and if you were the security guard, would you even consider tackling a professional boxer?

He's only doing his job, and getting physical abuse that's totally uncalled for.

9 times out of 10 he would let it slide, but if someone is being an arrogant c*nt to you and threatening you, then you'll be more than happy to see them f*cked over for it.

Simple as.

Poked him in the face!!! Omg throw away the key lol

Grown, mature, balanced adults aren't supposed to do such things in a society, and this is but one of many recent incidents indicating a bigger and possibly more urgent problem. Put it all together, to date, and Floyd appears to be a mess and an increasingly volatile hazard.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Arrested in Vegas, Mugshot Photo

TMZ has learned Floyd Mayweather was arrested in Las Vegas last night, in connection with the warrant that was issued for his arrest for allegedly assaulting a security guard.

We're told Mayweather was at a casino on the strip when a security guard recognized him and called the Las Vegas police.

Mayweather, who was all smiles in his latest mugshot, is still in custody.

As we first reported, a security guard patrolling Floyd's gated community claims the boxer poked him in the face when confronted about a parking violation.

If convicted Mayweather faces a maximum of 6 months in jail.

I think Mayweather has become more and more reckless over the last few years with his breezes with the law and the way things are going, it's not gonna end well for him.

Agreed. Let's be specific about Floyd, however.

He's always been this same guy. He's always had it in him. What's lacking, possibly, is distinct direction. Back in the day when he was acting up he at least had a goal and was in training. That may have been enough of a lid (for the most part) to keep the pot from boiling over.

Today, he isn't aiming or training or anything today (amazingly in light of the fact he now can command more money than ever with his biggest challenge right in front of him - with the world watching and calling for it)....and the lid has now been removed.

Could be a good point Johnny! But either way there is a problem there. It shouldn't be a case that Floyd avoids trouble when he has a focus only! It is still in him to go and find trouble when he doesn't have an aim and thus this is what he needs to get help with. It's like when kids get into trouble for robbing old ladies and its because "there's nothing for them to do in the community". That maybe a factor, but any humane person would just go and do such a thing out of boredom!

Its well known he surrounds himself with the wrong type of people. That would be a start, but if he feels the need to try and portray a real life gangster as he thinks he is, then some form of prison time maybe required.

Anytime Mayweather's name pops ups for getting in trouble,I always think of a recent qoute made by Michael Buffer after Pacquiao's fight with Margarito:

"That was the kind of performance that could make Floyd want to go to jail."
