http://ringnews24.com/images/pixel.gifSaturday's world super-middleweight title bout between Carl Froch and George Groves was given a final touch of spice on Thursday when the two faced up at their final press conference.

As the Daily Mail's Jeff Powell reports, threats and taunts were in abundance ahead of the pair's meeting in Manchester this weekend, with challenger Groves saying:

I will come out from the first bell and take you on.

I will win the exchange of jabs and then hit you with two right hands. Just two. So you know a lot more will be coming late. In the second round I'll plant myself in the middle of the ring and do much the same to win that round as well, only hitting you with more rights.

From round three onwards it will be up to you, Carl, to try to find a way of doing something about it.

The build-up to this fight has been particularly intriguing over the last few months, with neither fighter afraid to voice his unsavoury views on the other.

IFL TV released this video on Thursday to accompany the quotes:

Froch didn't let things lie, however, and came back at the 25-year-old with some words of his own, per Powell's report:

This is ridiculous. Embarrassing. I hope you come to fight. I would love you to do it right from the start because the sooner that happens the sooner you get flattened.

But you won't do that. You'll come to jab and grab and run and try to get through the fight. You're in a world of trouble, you're going to learn some respect. You're getting annihilated.

I've mixed it with world class fighters and they conduct themselves with dignity. Sit down and enjoy it, this guy is getting absolutely flattened. There is an old saying that you can't argue with stupid so I'm not going to say much more than that you're getting whooped.

Groves comes into this matchup undefeated, having finished his last three consecutive fights with a knockout. On the other hand, veteran Froch has finished only two of his last eight opponents.

During the conference, "The Sheriff of Nottingham" proudly flaunted his IBF and WBA super-middleweight belts, inferring that the 11-year age gap between them as something that will have a dramatic impact on Saturday's result.

Controversial QPR player Joey Barton voiced his views on the bout earlier in the week:

Though bitter in their apparent resentment toward one another, the conference was clean of any physical confrontation, both competitors keeping their arms at bay on this occasion.

That being said, one can bet that the duo's tempers will be at their most flared come Saturday's clash at the Phones4u Arena.

This penultimate meet only serves in making what already promises to be a blockbuster event all the more promising. Groves and Froch are primed for fireworks.
