East Side Boxing Posted November 14, 2013 Share Posted November 14, 2013 WASHINGTON, DC (November 14, 2013)—TONIGHT at The Washington Hilton, a special night of professional boxing will highlight the “Fight for Children” charity event. The main event of the three bout card will pit undefeated John “Apollo Kidd” Thompson taking on Jonathan Batista. Thompson of Newark, NJ has a record of 13-0 with 4 knockouts and as he closes out 2013, he is one of the top prospects in the Jr. Middleweight division. The 24 year-old will be making his 4th appearance of 2013 and he has stepped up with each bout. In February, Thompson stopped Grayson Blake (5-1) in five rounds. In May he scored 4 knockdowns en route to an eight round unanimous decision over Geovanny Rodriguez (8-0) in a bout that was nationally televised on Sho Box. In his last bout, Thompson scored a shutout victory over Brandon Quarles (10-1-1) on September 13th. Thompson is promoted by Vito Mielnicki’s GH3 Promotions. Batista is a late replacement for Antwone Smith, who pulled out of the fight on Tuesday. The 29 Year-old Batista has a record of 14-2 with 7 knockouts.
