Bleacher Report
It's fight night, fans, and we hope you'll join us for our coverage of Saturday night's big HBO triple-header, which is live from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. In the main event, WBO super featherweight champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez (27-1-2, 16 KO) will defend his title against former featherweight champion Mikey Garcia (32-0, 27 KO) in what promises to be an all-action contest. Martinez is in his second reign as a world champion at 130 pounds. He only knows one way to fight, and that's to throw a lot of punches and eat a lot in return. That style makes him exciting but could trouble him against someone as strong as his opponent tonight. Garcia is a former featherweight champion who lost his belt on the scales in June. He had struggled to make the 126-pound limit for a while, so he finally decided to move up in weight. He's a precise and devastating counterpuncher and is ranked amongst boxing's fastest-rising stars. In the co-main event, Filipino sensation Nonito Donaire (31-2, 20 KO) returns to the ring for the first time since his devastating defeat by Guillermo Rigondeaux in April. He'll be facing Vic Darchinyan (39-5-1, 28 KO) in a 10-round featherweight rematch. The opening contest of the evening will be for the vacant WBO Junior Middleweight Championship, as Demetrius Andrade (19-0, 13 KO) takes on Vanes Martirosyan (32-0-1, 21 KO) Two world title bouts, two of the biggest names in the sport and an exciting night of action are ahead. Live coverage begins here at Bleacher Report at 9:30 p.m. ET, and you can watch it all live on HBO. Read more Boxing news on BleacherReport.com More...
