boxrec
The final press conference for Saturday's IBF title eliminator between Kell Brook and Vyacheslav Senchenko took place today in Sheffield, with Brook insisting: "I'm going to prove on Saturday why they call me the Special One." After a disappointing 12 months in which three proposed dates with IBF champion Devon Alexander have been called off due to both fighters sustaining injuries, 27 year old Brook is fully focused on the experienced Ukrainian, and expects to remain at number one in the rankings come Saturday night. Brook continued: "Last time Senchenko came over here, he left a happy man, but I can assure you this time, he's gonna go home a sad man. After the first round, he's going to realise that he's in with a completely different animal to what he's ever been in with before. "I've got a lot of respect for this guy. Last time he came out here, he upset us all by beating Ricky Hatton, so I know that he means business because it's only been Mayweather and Pacquioao to ever do that. So the respect is there, but on Saturday night it's gone out the window, and I'm going to let my fists do the talking and prove that I belong at the number one spot, and the elite, top level." The weigh in takes place at 1pm tomorrow at the Grosvenor Casinos, Sheffield, and is open to the public. Brook’s clash with Senchenko tops a great line-up of action, with Brian Rose facing Javier Maciel in a final eliminator for the WBO Light Middleweight title. Rising Liverpool star Callum Smith meets Ruben Acosta for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight International title and Olympic Gold medalist Anthony Joshua MBE faces Paul Butlin in his second professional fight. There’s a welcome return for exciting 8-0 bantamweight Kal Yafai, who boxes for the first time since injuring his bicep in his last outing in March, while popular Sheffield fighters Adam Etches, Scott Jenkins and Sam O’Maison also feature. Doors open for the huge bill at 5.30pm, with Sky coverage starting from 6pm. Tickets are on sale priced £30, £40, £60 and £100 through the Motorpoint Arena – www.motorpointarenasheffield.co.uk – and on 0114 2565656. Video courtesy of iFL TV More...
