Cableaddict
Re: Thabiso Mchunu Inks With Main Events And tonight is McHunu's first Duva fight, against VERY tough former Olympian Durodola. No need for any judges tonight, it won't go past 7-8 rounds. Bring it on, baby ....... Edited January 24, 2014 by Cableaddict
Cableaddict
Re: Thabiso Mchunu Inks With Main Events Man, I'm SO looking forward to tonight's fight. Maybe I'm grasping at straws, but I thought McHunu looked spectacular in eating Eddie Chambers last year. He basically totally shut him down, and Chambers is a very crafty fighter, esp at CW. McHunu is short & powerful with both hands, and very VERY fast. (shades of Mike Tyson, though not as aggressive.) Based on the small amount of video available, he's a great counterpuncher, fighting superbly off his back foot. I think this guy has a serious shot at a CW belt. Tonight will tell us a lot, since he's up against a BIG puncher with skills. I'd love to see McHunu get inside and force the action, though I expect he pull a "Rigo" as he did against Chambers, and do what he has to for a safe win. Durodola is extremely dangerous. - but if McHunu fights aggressively and wins, then he should be considered a serious force in the division. Cableaddict
Re: Thabiso Mchunu Inks With Main Events Well, I hope you guys saw this fight. McHunu looked fantastic. His hand speed was just incredible, and he also showed a lot of aggressiveness, despite being mainly a counter-puncher. Sadly, 2 things kept this fight from becoming headline news: 1: Duradola couldn't come up with any solution to McHunu's brilliant defense, and McHunu's stinging counters kept him from launching much of an attack. 2: McHunu, oddly, loves to fight from the outside. When he gets inside, he hardly throws any punches. It's really weird. If this guy can learn to throw some inside body shots & uppercuts, he's going to be one deadly little pitbull. Huck & Hernandez won't stand a chance against him. - IF he can develop an inside game. - Otherwise Huck will probably be able to rough him up & wear him down. But that hand speed! BoztheMadman
Re: Thabiso Mchunu Inks With Main Events Mchunu in comparison to Makabu seems to be more a crafty boxer but Makabu is a one punch ko man, while Mchunu doesn't seem to be. But Makabu also was the first one to beat Dmytro Kucher, a very promising and strong Ukrainian. I'd like a showdown between the two. Makabu is from Congo originally, so it wouldn't be too hard for Mchunu to accept it, since they are only countrymen on paper.
Cableaddict
Re: Thabiso Mchunu Inks With Main Events Interesting. I never heard of Makabu. - But McHunu is will Main Events now, and has had pretty good media exposure, so matching him with the mostly-unknown Makabu wouldn't make much sense. Who is Makabu's promoter?

Who is Makabu's promoter? Dunno but he fights mainly in SA...is about to get a name, in his last fight he kayoed Eric Fields with a left hook in 5 rounds. But he fought Kucher in Monaco and is again fighting there against one Ruben Angel Mino, who is 20-0, February 1.
Cableaddict
Re: Thabiso Mchunu Inks With Main Events ^ When you say Monaco, do you mean that big competition that the Prince sponsors every year? (I forget the name) If so, that's great exposure. Edited January 25, 2014 by Cableaddict

As I said, he beat Kucher who was kicking ass before that, it was a close fight but he beat him, as iamasadlittleboy aka Scott will gladly confirm. And he's knocked out everybody else, another guy he koed was Tamas Lodi who was 9-0 before that. And he got him out in 3 rounds. He only lost in his first fight by ko but that was in 2008. Since then, he's annihilated everyone but Kucher.
