TheExecutioner
Arguably two of the greatest middleweights of all time, both from vastly different eras. who wins?
Wheelchair
Monzon with considerable ease. He was used to fighting much tougher competition during his reign than was Hopkins. A KO around the 13th round after a prolonged beating from Carlos would see Bernard in a bloody mess.
RAZZ-MCFC
easy win for Monzon, in Marvin Hagler's words 'the best middleweight ever' you know somebody's good when Marvelous Marv calls you the best at the weight ever Carlos Monzon by stoppage
WelshDevilRob
Monzon for me. Hopkins reign at Middleweight, while long was similar to Calzaghe's at SM - not the greatest calibre of opposition.
Dallen
Monzon easily would dominate the fight and stop Hopkins inside the distance.
grapevine241
it goes the distance... i could see hopkins being a little too tricky for monzon. but my gut tells me monzon wins a close decision.
londoner
Monzon definitely wins every time but i can't decide if he wins on points or KO. I would probably say late KO but Hopkins has never been KO'd. Although he also hasn't fought anyone as good as Monzon before.
thedarkdragon11
Re: Hopkins vs Monzon @ 160lbs Monzon via late stoppage. Hopkins can run but he can't hide from Monzon.
BoztheMadman
Re: Hopkins vs Monzon @ 160lbs Monzon definitely. I don't think anyone can seriously claim Hopkins beats Monzon and gets taken seriously. Give him a hard fight? Yes. Win? No.

I don't think anyone can seriously claim Hopkins beats Monzon and gets taken seriously. Give him a hard fight? Yes. Win? No. Hopkins has never liked workrate - imagine going 12-15 rounds at Monzon's pace; he'd be dead by the eighth round.

Yes and Monzon was a slow starter, he was strongest in the later rounds, in his prime. He also was taller than boxrec says, he was 6'2 or 6'1 at least. chaconfan
Re: Hopkins vs Monzon @ 160lbs This would probably be the most boring fight in history. Both great technicians, but neither ever exciting. Hopkins turned super fights into super bores, the De La Hoya one being the most notable, and he had an ex super featherweight in front of him!
