Bleacher Report
Live streaming of Timothy Bradley vs. Juan Manuel Marquez weigh-in courtesy of Yahoo! Sports. Which fighter will show up to the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas looking as if he is destined for victory? The official weigh-in, which takes place at 5:30 p.m. ET, clearly doesn't tell the whole story. At the very least it can help to stoke the flame for one of the biggest fights of the year. Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley will defend his WBO welterweight title against 40-year-old Mexican legend Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez on Saturday night at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Physiques always get a good amount of attention at boxing weigh-ins, but this one will have a few more eyes. Bradley is always in optimal shape, so many may just marvel at how chiseled Desert Storm is for another battle. Marquez drew raves and suspicions when he was bulkier for his last bout with Manny Pacquiao than he had been in the past, per Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. In this day and age where performance-enhancing drug use is a major issue, noticeable changes in physique will always be looked at skeptically. Because Marquez floored Pacquiao with one shot on two occasions in the bout—the last being the devastating right-hand counter that ended the fight—critics really began to wonder aloud. Marquez’s affiliation with steroid figure Angel “Memo” Heredia caused further concern. For the record, Marquez’s post-fight drug tests were clean, per Iole, and he hasn’t had any issues on this front in the weeks leading up to the Bradley fight. Bradley has mentioned having concerns about Marquez using PEDs and maintains he wants to ensure the fight takes place on a level playing field. The video below features some candid information and NSFW language: Per Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times, Bradley put $20,000 in an escrow account to pay for the two combatants to take advanced drug screenings leading up to the bout. Bradley said Marquez is doing about 95 percent of what he should, but Marquez and Heredia have resisted some of the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association regulations. Nonetheless, the fight will rage on, and this is just another subplot to a potentially thrilling night of boxing. Check out the live weigh-in on the eve of the welterweight title clash.
