East Side Boxing Posted September 13, 2013 Share Posted September 13, 2013 Southern Area light welterweight champion Danny ‘Cassius’ Connor promises to retain his title on October 5th in London. The Surrey boxer faces old friend Tony Owen to defend his hard-earned belt on the highly anticipated ‘Carpe Diem’ show at The O2 Arena that also showcases the debut of Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua. Connor adamantly commented, “I promise you this; on October 5th I guarantee I’ll still be the champion. Tony’s got more chance of winning the Euromillions than beating me!” 27 year old Connor (10-6-1) and 26 year old Owen (14-2-0) both hail from Sutton, Surrey and trained together at the Rosehill Amateur Boxing Club over 10 years ago. Owen has the better record winning the first 12 professional fights losing only to British title challenger Ben Murphy and Prizefighter champion Chris Jenkins. However, Connor can boast the more impressive CV following inspirational wins against Tyler Goodjohn, Chris Evangelou and reaching the finals of the previous Prizefighter Tournament.
