Javier Maciel v Brian Rose

Former world title challenger Javier Francisco Maciel (27-2, 20) is apparently heading to Britain!

 

The 28 year old Argentinian, dubbed "The Beast", is expected to come over 'ol Blighty to fight on October 26th as he battles Blackpool's Brian "The Lion" Rose (24-1-1, 7) in what's expected to act as a world title eliminator, with the winner becoming the WBO mandatory challenger for the winner of the upcoming bout between Demetrius Andrade and Vanes Martirosyan.

 

For Rose this is a real step up to world class and with his lack of power he may well struggle with a man, Maciel, who made Dmitry Pirog look very average when the two fought in a WBO Middleweight title fight.

 

With a vicious body attack, slippery defense and a determined mentality Maciel is one of the "avoided men" in the mix at 154 and knows a victory over Rose will help him move towards a world title fight in his natural division. He will also be aware of the recent Beltran/Burns controversy and know that he may need a stoppage to get a victory in Britain. If, and that's a big if, Maciel feels he needs a stoppage this could be a very painful night for Rose's mid section.
