TommyLeeWannabe
Hi. I wanna make a couple of DVDs for my uncle. He loves so much ODLH. What do you consider as his best fights ? Thanks
LondonRingRules
Re: Best De La Hoya fights ? Hi. I wanna make a couple of DVDs for my uncle. He loves so much ODLH. What do you consider as his best fights ? Thanks Working backwards, Mayorga/Vargas show him at his toughest old school best past his best form. He's at his clinical, technical best in Tito and both Mosley fights, I thought he won all 3 hands down. I rather enjoyed his beat down of the clown, Jorge Paez. His first title a month after turning 21 against Jimmy Brehdahl for the WBO superfeather title is a nice arcane match usually buried in discussions. Finally, his fight against the very dangerous Gabriel Ruelas is his most explosive, a 2nd rd KO.
donlevy
His first fight with Mosley and the fight with Vargas had plenty of action and drama. The Ike Quartey fight is frustrating to watch at times, but it also had some fantastic moments, particularly in the sixth and final round that ranks up there among some of the best rounds in history. If you want to see De La Hoya at his technical best, then his fight with Yori boy Campas is worth the watch.I've never seen De La Hoya look as quick and smooth as he did that night. donlevy
Thanks ot all. ANything else beside Mayorga, Vargas, Mosley, Trinidad and Ruelas fights ? Thanks to all. The oba carr fight is a good fight.Carr was very competitive throughout and it made for an entertaining affair and a good knockout. His rematch with Chavez was as competitive and exciting a one sided match as you'll find.
McBride
Not meaning to put a damper on things, but if you want to see him look not much more than ordinary check out his fight with Sweet Pea Whittaker.

londoner
Off the top of my head: Mayorga, Vargas, Chavez I, Paez, Gatti (not a great fight, but great ODLH performance).
davemurphy
Off the top of my head: Mayorga, Vargas, Chavez I, Paez, Gatti (not a great fight, but great ODLH performance). Good list, Ryan. I'd toss in Quartey as well, it can't go down as one of his best performances per say, but it sure was a fun one!

JK1700
The Camacho fight was also very good. Oscar gave him a serious ass whooping. I had it 120-
