David "The Duck" Haye Prices Himself Out of Wlad N

Recommended Posts

It looks more and more likely that heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko will next face mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin instead of David Haye in a unification bout, Klitschko manager Bernd Boente told ESPN.com. Klitschko, as well as fellow titleholder and brother Vitali Klitschko, wants to fight Haye, who has trash-talked both of them for ages. Boente said they offered Haye a 50-50 deal to fight Wladimir in the fall without asking for options on any future Haye bouts. That is a major improvement over past offers, which included less than 50-50 and multiple options. Boente said the latest offer proves how much Klitschko wants to get Haye into the ring. "But we do not hear anything back from Haye or [manager] Adam Booth. All of a sudden Haye is very quiet now after doing all of that talking about fighting," Boente said. He said if they can't close a deal with Haye, Klitschko will face Povetkin whether they can negotiate terms or go to a purse bid.

If the above by Boente is actually true rather than words then I believe Haye will take the fight. Adam Booth said before negotiations that they would be seeking 'parity in pay'. Dan Rafael doesn't actually quote Boente saying 50/50 and no options, but quotes the less important stuff - Why?

Haye is normally vocal in making fights as is evident in the videos I posted the other day. The fact that he isn't now is because his wife is having his 1st child and he is locked away from it all.

if its true, i cant believe they are actually giving haye 50-50 with no options. thats the best offer you can get outside of having klitschko tie his left arm behind his back for the whole fight.

I agree, Grape. You won't get a better offer than that. I think the Haye hype has built that. The fight is worth alot more than either can get against other opponents.

The Klitchko's are living in Never Never Land. They know that they are gonna get whupped so best to get paid alot for the beating that awaits the robots.

50/50 being offered by the two people who basically control the heavyweight division and you think they're living in Never Never Land? The Only Never Never has been the date Haye cashes the cheques his mouth has been writing.

There is no quote in that article that says 50/50.

no there isn't, but it's still mentioned, and I'm saying if it's ture, that's hardly living in never never land.

Just another article spreading BS with only half the facts.

Haye is busy with his home life and quite rightly so as his wife is about to have his first child.

Lets wait and see what happens after that.

He brings exciitement on and off - he brought it v Ruiz and at cruiser - his heavyweight record is hardkly thrill-a-minute at the moment simply because he's fought so few people of any worth.

Considering its been a poor division for years hes at least got a belt from the freak of nature who was considered a mammoth task to beat and hes faced names at least known who were in the ring with the big names.

Ruiz and Barret have decent names on their resume.

to be fair but, apart from either Klitschko, no other Heavyweight is of any worth.

Haye, who im a big fan of, needs to put up or shut up soon enough.

Chagaev, Povetkin, Solis and Adamek would like a word. I'd say Adamek's the most exciting one out there...mainly because he's exciting and partly because theres questions about whether or not he can take a heavy shot...

true, but none are at the Klit level imo and Haye has put himself in the position that no other fight will be good enough now.

I still think Haye has enough power to KO anyone at Heavy, but i still have serious doubts that he can take a shot at heavy either, which is why i think the more fights he takes at heavy the more chance his chin has of being exposed and would ruin any chance of a fight with either brother, which is why he needs to fight them sooner of later.

Even if Haye fights one of the brothers and if he beats either of them, I dont forsee Hayes career being a long one.

Barrett can have decebnt names on their resumes but Barrett especially was a shot to bits former fringe contender.

As to beating Valuev being a mammoth task, I don't see that - anyone with any real boxing ability was likely to beat him, which is why even Holyfield at the age of 103 could claim a controversial defeat. Chagaev got there first but either klitschko, Haye, Adamek etc could likely have done a number on him.
