Daniel Jacobs needs to step up in class

Never heard of him.

I'm shocked by that...ESPN's prospect of the year last year, was on lots of big under cards and beat Ishe Smith.

Though I do agree he SERIOUSLY needs to step up but he's what, 22? Plenty of time, though he can't be brought along like Ortiz andblasted out by the first seriously challenge

honestly, jacobs is one of the few prospects i think is moving along just fine. so many have been feasting on tomato cans that they are going to get destroyed when they face a top guy, jacobs seems to be stepping up appropriately and at a good pace.

To be honest,I'd only heard about him a couple months back.I don't really ollow prospects unless they're really making progress.I saw his fight with Ishe Smith and didn't feel to overwhelmed by his performance.

--------- Smith was his 5th fight in 6 months that year against some pretty good comp.

He was also a late sub on the card, so he can be excused for not looking as brilliant as previous efforts against a very experienced fringe contender.

I've noticed that GB is not as savvy in developing their prospects as Arum does as Jacabs seems to have stalled out as far as his level of comp this year. We're halfway through the year and he hasn't even been 3 full rounds, much less fought anyone who could bring a real fight to him.

Arum would have him against other prospects, fringe contenders, and experienced faded champs at this stage, 3 fights a year, keeping him busy, focused, in training, but with enough down time to reset.

Great talent, so we shall see if he's mentally strong enough to deal with the poor management and or swollen egos that plagues most fighters of talent.

I've liked the look of Jacobs for a good couple of years now, but he hasn't made any real progress in that time.

If anything he's gone backwards, because he seems able to drop down a good few gears and still make winning look easy against the calibre of opponent he's been in with,

It can't be good for his development, but it must also be difficult to get other hot prospects in the ring given he can easily go up a few gears and has a capability far beyond what he's shown so far.

It's a risk most promoters won't take so he really needs to get some eliminators in, he must be ranked reasonably highly by now?
