Froch throwing toys out of pram!

Carl Froch could quit boxing if he loses his next Super Six bout to Arthur Abraham.

Froch is coming off the first defeat of his pro career - a points loss against Dane Mikkel Kessler last month.

And now he needs to beat tough German-based Armenian Abraham to make the semi-finals of Showtime's much-heralded tournament for super-middleweights.

Froch, now 32, says if things go wrong against 'King Arthur' he could walk away from the sport, telling The Sun: "The next fight is all or nothing for me. If it doesn't go my way I will seriously consider retirement because I'm only interested in big title fights. I won't hang around at domestic level."

Doubt still remains over where Froch/Abraham will be held, but the 'Cobra' is adamant it should be on home soil.

He said: "I'm only going to fight on my terms - and I won't be pushed around this time.

"The home-town decisions in this competition have been a disgrace so I am not going to Berlin because there's no chance of getting a verdict.

"I won't be going anywhere east of Nottingham to fight Abraham and it won't be in Showtime's interests for me to pull out."

Abraham is also coming off the first loss of his professional career, having been disqualified against Andre Dirrell in Detroit last time out.

If you actually threw some punches instead of posing you could KO people Carl. You won't need to rely on verdicts then.

He seems to be entirely lacking the capacity for irony - he got what many would consider a hometown decision himself.

I chuckled at his line about the "home-town" decsions.

Abraham fought away last time aswell - neither has a belt so it needs to be neutral as I understand Abraham is not keen on fighting in Nottingham.

Yeah, he didn't do enough against Kessler. But it was still a respectable performance.

I think things could well go disastrously wrong for him against Abraham. We will see if Froch really has the "granite chin" he thinks...

The only fight I can think of that could possibly be considered a hometowm decision in the tournament so far is his fight against Dirrell. Or am I missing a fight? All the other fights have been pretty conclusive results. The only dubious thing with Froch-Kessler was one of the scorecards was a bit too wide. even that was debatable.

Froch is acting like the little prick I always though he was since losing.

It makes more sense for it to take place in Germany.Abraham is a bigger draw over there than froch is in England. The fight would make more money and is a bigger deal over in berlin.

i stand by what I've said all along, it would make more sense for it to be part of a triple header with the other 2 fights, somewhere in the US in a mega card, especially if ANY fighter could qualify. Stick it at the Thomas Mack, or the Cowboys as it would be huge start the event early evening in the US with European fighters fighting the earlier of the 3 bouts (to capitalise on some of the European TV markets) with the all US bout last of the 3.

His remark about hometown decisions is a bit off...in fact, I had Dirrell beating Froch in their fight.

Carl's just showing his true colours, IMO.

Good or great fighters don't moan, they just comeback and get on with it.

Seems like I'm the only one who believes froch has a point. I didn't think he lost that Kessler fight. At worst I had it a draw. Then again I saw it on an internet stream. Have to watch the fight again on tv to see anything conclusive.

Carl Froch has laughed at suggestions that he could fight Arthur Abaraham in a bull ring in Majorca.

"I don't fancy that," said Froch, who is recovering from ear and eye trouble. "What about the heat?"

Froch is holding out for the crucial SuperSix fight to be staged in Nottingham at Meadow Lane or the Trent FM Arena or, at a push, in America.

But top promoter Kalle Sauerland says the fight has to happen in Germany or a big European venue.

"It's all about money in this business and we haven't received any financial offer from Nottingham, so, as it stands, we won't be going there," said Sauerland. "And I'm not really interested in America. We've looked at Zurich and Majorca. I love the idea of a bull ring in Majorca."

Froch facing away-day dilemma

POLAND and Monaco are two of the latest venues being touted for Nottingham boxer Carl Froch's vital SuperSix World Boxing Classic fight with Arthur Abraham.

Canada and North America could also be on the agenda.

"The next fight is all or nothing for me," said former WBC super-middleweight champion Froch. "I'm only going to fight on my terms. I won't be pushed around this time. I won't be going anywhere east of Nottingham to fight.I don't mind Canada but I am not going to Poland or Monaco. And I'm not fighting in Berlin – there's no chance of getting a verdict there."

Froch is still convinced he did enough to maintain his unbeaten record against Mikkel Kessler, despite all his pre-fight problems in getting to Denmark because of the volcanic ash cloud.

"My preparation was shot to pieces. I didn't have my usual sharpness," he said. "I had Kessler hurt in the fifth and usually I would have finished it off. But the energy and aggression weren't there."

Froch, who lost on points, is currently recovering from a perforated eardrum and will probably face Abraham in September.

If he wins, there is a chance of facing Kessler again in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Froch insisted: "I'd love to get him in the semis because I know how to beat him now."

Is he admitting he can't stop Arthur there then?...even though he has "amazing" power?...hehe

Carl's power has not traveled up from domestic level. At world level he's found wanting in quite a few aspects of his craft.

Doesn't stop Carl from boasting about it, if he had the power he thunk he did, Pascal wouldn't have lasted 12 and Taylor Taylor wouldn't have been so close to winning...just nice to see Carl admitting he's not that powerful
