LondonRingRules
Beeb is reporting this. Nathan Cleverly, age 23, boxrec #9, and Karo Murat, age 26, #11, a good match on paper, but is it? Don't know much about either, but Cleverly seems like a clever boxer/mover type and Murat the gloves up/pressure fighter, still sounding good on paper. Looking at the records, Murat has simply fought a better class than Cleverly, just as undefeated with more wins/KOs, so go figure boxrec. Nobody else can. Should be a good bout though, but where is the venue? Beeb is saying Warren says Cardiff, and indeed, Cleverly has never traveled. Murat based in Germany, but has also rotated in Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, so is a fight in Cardiff bigger than in Germany? Dunno, just sayin'........... Wheelchair
Cleverly is very promising, but he's yet to step up in class. Judgement will have to be reserved until he does.
iamasadlittleboy
Cleverly seems to have grown into his power so his KO % is deceptively low (think he's stopped his last 7 or something) with wins over Oakey, Mcintosh and the italian last time being good wins. He has a rather loose style that does need to be changed if he faces a hard puncher as he can be caught (and was put down early in his career) though looks a class act. The WBO champion is off to jail is he not? (Braehmer?)
Sheils
I rate Cleverly. The world title is his next logical challenge. He has a smart fighting head and can bang a bit. Wales may give the biggest pay-day, and it's bound to be an advantage for Cleverly.
WelshDevilRob
I heard they were going to stage this in Swansea with local lad Enzo Mac on the same bill. Probably in the 30,000 seater Liberty Stadium. Trouble is that Cleverly is from the Cardiffian side of South Wales. Stick Gavin Rees on the bill and your away. (Not sure if Rees is with Warren anymore or a free agent) The fight could yet be for a Vacant WBO title as the WBO champ Jurgen Braehmer is awaiting trial for assault and could well be sent down. For the record Cleverly was meant to fight in Italy for the European title but his opponent Antonio Brancalion postponed through injury and the venue was switched. Cleverly has fought outside the UK - having fought in Las Vegas on a Calzaghe undercard.
iamasadlittleboy
Rees signed with Lockett i think ...or maybe that was training...
WelshDevilRob
Rees signed with Lockett i think ...or maybe that was training... Think your right. I suppose they'd still be happy for him to appear on the bill.
