Faulks
By Mark Vester WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao has budged. The Filipino champion is now willing to agree to Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s previous cut-off date for a random Olympic-style drug testing protocol. Earlier this year, the two sides failed to reach an agreement for a March mega-fight. The issue of random drug testing was the root cause for the failed negotiations. The two fighters were unable to agree on the cut-off date for the blood tests. Mayweather wanted a 14-day cut-off on the tests, while Pacquiao wanted the random drug testing protocol to end 24-days before the fight. Now Pacquiao is willing to meet Mayweather's number. "I am willing to help the sport for the future of the sport. I do not want to see anyone cheat or cheat this sport. For that reason I am willing to consider taking blood as close as 14 days prior to the fight, as long as, my opponent does the same, and it is not a lot of blood, just enough to test," Pacquiao said in a statement on his official website, mpboxing.com . "I do not want anyone having an unfair advantage where someone may get hurt. I am willing to do my part to help this sport out." Pacquiao has not yet watched Mayweather's domination of Shane Mosley, but plans to watch the fight very soon. He also agreed to take a blood test immediately after the fight was over. Nothing is set in stone. The next time the two fighters meet at the negotiating table, Mayweather might issue a demand for a smaller cut-off date or he might even make a demand for the testing to continue until the fight. Faulks
By Ronnie Nathanielsz Pound-for-pound king and “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao has vehemently denied a report filed by a certain Timothy James on one of the Pacquiao websites claiming that he had agreed to Floyd Mayweather Jr’s demand for a 14 day cut-off for random blood tests for a fight to push through. BoxingScene.com contacted Pacquiao’s adviser Michael Koncz about the report and asked him to double-check with Pacquiao. Koncz got back to us a short while after he spoke to Pacquiao at his residence and said Pacquiao categorically stated "he never spoke to any reporter and never heard of the guy” who filed the story, even as he maintained that he had no official website although there are people who claim that they handle his "official site" [mpboxing.com]. Koncz quoted Pacquiao as saying he “never talked to anybody about boxing and his main concern is campaigning and winning the election on May 10. (Floyd) Mayweather is not even in our minds or in our thoughts." However, Koncz quoted Pacquiao as saying "we’ll fight Mayweather or any other fighter anytime, any place under the rules and regulations of the Commission of the state where the fight takes place.” The story alleged that the reporter spoke to Pacquiao in his home in General Santos City and that he had made an official statement for his website at 2:30 a.m. on May 3. The statement quoted Pacquiao as saying “I am willing to help the sport for the future of the sport. I do not want to see anyone cheat or cheat this sport. For that reason I am willing to consider taking blood as close as 14 days prior to the fight, as long as, my opponent does the same, and it is not a lot of blood, just enough to test. I do not want anyone having an unfair advantage where someone may get hurt. I am willing to do my part to help this sport out.” Manny Pacquiao was also alleged to have stated that he is willing to take blood immediately after the fight in his locker room "No problem." Manny just does not want to take blood right before the fight, as he feels that may hurt the fighter, if not physically, maybe mentally.

Kimmy
I think though he will budge. After Mayweather´s performance against Mosley the P4P tide has shifted back to Floyd and it´s now on Manny to step up. Does he really want to go down in history as the fighter who avoided the big defining fight of the decade because he didn´t want to take a drug test? That is how history will record it...he has to fight, his legacy depends on it. it will happen, whether Pac man wants it or not.
LondonRingRules
cry// Wish i hadnt posted my original story now ------- BS is not a reliable source, but unfortunately seem to be the largest boxing website for news and forums. Regardless, Manny already agreed to 90% of Floydy's last ditch, last second demands on drug testing. It was Floydy who insisted on the shaky WADA program that have a felon as it's new face to the public. So Floydy and Oscar claim he's in the driver's seat now, which translated means he's next due to fight his 5th straight Golden Boy opponent, probably Saul Alvarez, but also Khan, Maidana if HBO can't swing the Sergio Martinez deal. Loaded_Gloves
Pac should compromise. Some would say that Mayweather has no right to be making demands, but if it takes the fighters to start insisting on stricter drug testing I think it's a good thing. This isn't like demanding a certain amount of money, or demanding a certain ring size.

davemurphy
I've never thought the problem was with Manny himself, but the Jackass that promotes him and treats his "client" alternately as either a simpleton or just plain Guilty, holds his former fighter with such distain that he can't cope with his success without him, and will most likely try to tell us we'd rather see a Pacquaio-Yuri Foreman fight should Foreman beat Cotto next month..........I can only hope that at 80 we won't have him around much longer. grapevine241
the thing i realized on 24/7 is that they need to stop the urine tests at least a week before the fight, mosley brought up the point that it is hard to make weight when you are forced to drink to piss for a test. blood up to the fight still makes sense though, i believe. WelshDevilRob
Floyd Mayweather quote from Grand Rapids Press: “This is not bragging or boasting, but with or without Pacquiao, Floyd is going to be able to go out and make $20 million or $30 million a night. With or without him, I’m still able to do that.” “I don’t think about no Pacquiao. I’m a boss, I only talk to bosses. He’s got to do numbers like I’m doing. What did him and Marquez do? 300,000, 400,000? Congratulations. Got to step his game up. Got to step his pay-per-view numbers up. I average 1.3 million, with ease. I’m Floyd Mayweather; they come to see me, regardless. I could fight three months, fight a fight a month and make $30 million, just like that. I could make $10 million a fight. This world is huge.”

He needed stars like Gatti, Oscar, and Ricky to build his brand. Manny has been on more than twice as many PPVs as Floydy. Poor dummy pisses into the wind and thinks it's gold raining down on him. Manny already made 20 million against Clottey after kicking Floydy out of his ring and out of the date so he could go crying to Al Heyman who pulled Berto out of the Mosley fight to cobble this latest GB cremecake together. Props to Floydy: After having your brains bounced off your balls, you came back and trashed a guy coming up on his 39th birthday. What's next, are you gonna man up to Magic Hatton or are you gonna be the first and only fighter in history to back out of fights with Ricky AND Matthew? Be happy to give Floydy some real props if he and the family of serial offenders keep their yaps shut. Fat chance. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc70/LondonPrizeRingRules/capt58083b7c45f44bad80b1d0a14539b41.jpg

I think the fact several members of Berto's family were missing or dead might have let Berto make up his own mind, but don't let a natural disaster get in the way of a dig at Mayweather wiill you?
