So Herbie ain't gonna win it!

-------- Herbie care barely win against the likes of the Brooks of the division. Been saying he's shot for years, and he proved it again tonight.

Smart move to protect the eye and the stamina for his ranking though there are no big paydays in this division. Probably the best payday would be against Huck who would walk through him by the half way point if not earlier.

The worst line up of all the Prizefighter gigs I've been to made up of rank novices & guys that really have seen their best days, we all expected Herbie to sail through but thanks to a bad cut in his 1st fight in which he battered Welsh lad Wayne Brooks around the ring for 3 rounds he decided to retire from the semi's ( a very wise move for Hide) as he could have easily lost the next one on cuts which no doubt would have knocked his world ranking.

from the 1st bout of evening I knew it was not going to be one of the memorable "fight nights"Zahid Kahut v Mark Krence The 5 fight novice never stood any sort of a chance against 31 fight Krence although Krence made hard work of it Zahut walked around with his head stuck up like a coconut at a fairground.Next up Leon Williams V Jon Lewis Dickinson was a much better affair with the more skillful JLD boxing well behind his jab kept the bull like rushes of Leon in check most of the way. then we come to the man who was 2ND favorite to win the tourney Darren Corbet Who surely if he trained could get down to Supper middle at least brawled his way through against John Anthony he constantly hit Anthony on the back of the head but when John returned the complement Darren complained loudly to the ref.

Then the 1st semi between Krence & Dickinson was bizarre just seem to run out of steam after taking a couple of shots from JLD staggered back to his corner at the end of the 1st round falling into the ropes & was immediately retied by his corner.

The second semi was due to the retirement of Hide between reserve Nick Okoth & Darren Corbet Nick a journeyman at best gave the fading Corbet more than he could handle & ran out a worth winner

The final between Okoth & JLD proved to be the matador v the bull with JLD's better boxing enough to subdue a very game but limited opponent, by far the best boxer on the night Dickinson (it's hard to believe he was a 5 fight novice going in ) was a worthy winner.

Just a post script to Barry Hearn you can't do many more with this level of talent we the fans have supported you so far but too many like this & we will be looking elsewhere on a Friday night
