Wheelchair
Would be a good fight, Enzo defending his EBU belt against likely Prizefighter winner Herbie Hide. The winner to face possibly Huck for the WBO title. Both are punchers and have dodgy whiskers. Who would you pick? I'd give an edge to Hide, he's a little quicker and sharper for me. WelshDevilRob
Enzo for me. Nationalist tendencies are there. He fought well tonight against a man rated by other posters in the know on Russian boxing. Hide, well he has aged and racked up 12 wins in Germany without getting a shot. Short fight, I think most will agree on that regardless of who wins.

I'd give an edge to Hide, he's a little quicker and sharper for me. ------ He's also got the shaky balance of a toddler learning to walk. Macc is younger and been fighting stiffer comp and he can box. First one landing wins this, but if Macc can play cagey and pick his spot during Hide's incredibly awkward assault, a quick counter will at least knock Hide down and set up a sequence resulting in a stoppage. Good show for Macca who seems to be a fan favorite for a good reason. Maybe he can maybe pick up another fringe title. How do you reckon Erdei and Danny Green do against those two? leerhodes
MACCARINELLI LIGHTNING WIN Enzo Maccarinelli claimed the European cruiserweight title with a crushing first-round knockout over local favourite Alexander Kotlobay at the Yubileiny Sports Palace in Saint Petersburg. The 29-year-old Welshman took just 45 seconds to complete the job, decking Kotlobay with the first meaningful punch of the fight then following up with a left uppercut which left the Russian sagging in the ropes. The win will lift Maccarinelli back into world title contention as he bids to regain the belt he lost when he was beaten in the second round by David Haye in London in 2008. Two subsequent defeats appeared to leave Maccarinelli on the brink of retirement but he since fought back with first-round stoppages over Krisztian Jaksi and Zoltan Czekus, with tonight's win making it three in a row. The 30-year-old Kotlobay had entered the fight with a decent 18-1-1 record, and 12 stoppages - many of them early - were testament to his punching power. But he was found out on a night Maccarinelli's class told. ID be on big mac nice to see him back
iamasadlittleboy
...was it 45 seconds? O_o was it not 2 mins 15? (they ran the clock "backwards", from 0 through to 3:00 not from 3:00 to 0)
Wheelchair
2:15 was the official time of the end of the fight. It did seem funny having the counter displaying the time in an opposite fashion to the norm.
WelshDevilRob
The plan of regrouping with 2 easy wins seems to have worked. He just back in at too high a level last time - not including Matthew Ellis. Hopefully, this impressive win has re focused the talented Mac. Wheelchair
Enzo did look very focussed on the job in hand. If he can protect that chin then he may yet surprise a few people.

TheBigTodd
Enzo would have the reach advantage and i think lands cleaner shots. This should mean he lands first which would mean he wins this one. Call me perverse but I'd really like to see this one.

Loaded_Gloves
Re: Big Mac vs Big Mouth I think Enzo needs more fights before he steps up. A first round KO doesn't tell us that much imo. Against Ola Afolabi he was winning the fight but he didn't have the stamina.

iamasadlittleboy
would stamina be an issue against hide?...
TheBigTodd
Perhaps not but he has gone the distance more times that Enzo. He shouldnt need the fights ot get his stamina up, gym work and sparring should be able to do that for him.

Enzos' gone 12 more than Herbie (3 against 2) with Enzo going the distance 7 times in total and Hide just 6 >_> Neither fighter has lost a distance fight....
