WBC/WBO middleweight champion Sergio Martinez wants to get revenge for what he considers to be the only true loss of his career. The fight took place ten years ago, in February 2000. Martinez, then a welterweight, was stopped by Antonio Margarito in the seventh round of their fight. Martinez would also love a rematch with Paul Williams, the man who beat him last December by way of a close majority decision.

"I've waited ten years for that fight. I would love to fight Antonio Margarito. He's a great boxer and a good champion. I would love to fight Paul Williams again, because he helped me reach superstardom and I would love to give him another fight," Martinez said to BoxingScene.com's Bill Emes.

Margarito is set to return on May 8 at junior middleweight. Top Rank want to match him with WBO welterweight Manny Pacquiao in the fall, if Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Shane Mosley are not in the picture. Margarito will probably hold out to see what happens with the Pacquiao situation. Williams returns against Kermit Cintron, also on May 8. And the third option would be a rematch with Kelly Pavlik, who Martinez decisioned last Saturday to capture the titles. Pavlik has a mandatory rematch clause that he plans to exercise.

Martinez told BoxingScene he would love a rematch with Pavlik.

"I would love to fight him again. Whenever he would want to fight, I would love the rematch," Martinez said.

------- Always thought the Marg/Manny fight was a non starter, more tossed out as negotiations ploy or last ditch back up plan.

If Marg wins his coming bout against a fringe contender, the Martinez rematch for his 154 belt would be a natural, except that the Williams rematch for the middle belt would trump that.

Kelly looks out of the mix at middle in the short term except for a possible Sturm bout or moving up to supermid that sees the Super-Six possibly needing a replacement as well as Bute needing a name opponent.
