Cleverly gives Froch both barrels, says: Dirrell, Ward & Taylor out-boxed him

Tired of IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) turning down fights against him, WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (26-0, 12 KO’s) decided to give it to Froch with both barrels on Tuesday, blasting him for failing to accept the offer to fight him and reminding him how he was out-boxed by Andre Dirrell, Andre Ward and Mikkel Kessler in the past. Cleverly’s promoter Frank Warren is saying he offered Froch GBP2.5m. That’s some serious folding.

Cleverly said to the telegraph.co.uk “I was prepared to come down from light heavyweight to make it happen…I see him as deluded…He was out-boxed by Andre Ward, Andre Dirrell and Jermain Taylor…he knows my style would beat him.”

Cleverly will be fighting on August 17th against an opponent still to be determined at the Motorpoint Arena, in Cardiff, Wales. He wanted to fight Sergey Kovalev, but it looks like Main Events is holding off on that fight now that the IBF has ordered IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins to face Kovalev next. That’s the fight that Kovalev really wanted because Hopkins is a legend and he’s a star in the United States.

Is it time Froch faced Adonis.....................??

Stating the bleeding obvious, though it's worth Cleverly noting how the fight with Taylor ended - you can win all the rounds you like, but if the other guy takes your head off with 10 seconds left in the fight, you've shit out, matey.

That's "both barrels"? Pointing out that your style is similar to three guys who went 1-2 against Froch? Like Poztin says, what he's said has some truth to it, but it means little given his own limited world-class experience. It's getting harder and harder to take him seriously.

Nathan seriously needs to stop trying to raise his profile by talking down our best fighter, he has achieved nothing of note with a string of average performances vs average opposition, he should take a look at his record and then take a look at Carls and start to realise he has no respect from the majority of boxing fans because he has spent a career being guarded and Froch has spent his fighting the very best!

Warren has issued a statement saying all the big names are avoiding Cleverly, and of course whinging about Froch not giving him a chance. How ironic, given Warren kept Froch out in the cold when he was the up-and-comer.

And that was against a fighter that was at least in his own division, however at the time Carl had no right to expect a fight vs Calzaghe he was way down the pecking order, but TBF to Nathan at least he is a World Champion even if it is at a heavier weight.....as little as I rate Cleverley though I do find it odd no one of note wants to fight him, in Cobras case he has other options but for the men in his own division it does make me wonder, perhaps his team go into negotiations expecting fights in the UK when he hasn't earned that right as of yet?
