selij
WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (26-0, 23 KO’s) made it clear in an interview that he’s very interested in facing WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) in the near future at some point. Golovkin said to esnewsporting.com “I think it’s [Canelo vs. Golovkin] a great fight. I want this fight. I think Canelo’s going to go to 160 after Mayweather fight.” Golovkin didn’t say whether he’d still be interested in facing Canelo if he gets beaten by Floyd Mayweather Jr. on September 14th. Seems everyone wants a piece of Canelo.................is he beating Floyd??
davemurphy
Re: Golovkin: I want to fight Canelo I always thought it was bad form to call out a guy from a lighter weight division when he's already got a fight on the books. Issue challenges when the other guy can accept or reject, not when they're getting ready to dance with someone else.

I'd assume Seckbach asked him if he'd have the fight and he answered with his "I'd fight him" line.

Yeah, I tried pulling up esnewsporting.com that's in the thread starter and it comes up with an error, so I couldn't look at anything but the quote. Your right that the language barrier in any triple G interview needs to be taken into account, and he's rehearsed in what's the standard answer they want him to give. In other words, like you say, it's entirely possible that Canelo's name is simply inserted into the blank. If it were Elie Seckbach then I wouldn't even have bothered with it. Right, that's what I was getting at, it just looks bad to be talking about a guy with a fight already on the docket, even though I'm sure in his case that it's not intentional.
