Juanma Lopez: I hope he’s prepared to die in the ring. I came back to get the title and I’m taking it back to Puerto Rico.

Mikey Garcia: This is another opportunity to show everybody that I truly am the best featherweight in the world.

Re: Mikey Garcia, Juanma Lopez Quick Quotes

I don't like this "die in the ring" patter from boxers, given the very real potential for it to happen.

There are far better expressions to put across the fact you're going to give it everything you've got than this...

Most people are backing Mikey, who is indeed a class act, but I have a feeling Lopez may pull off what would be a minor upset.

Garcia is still fairly raw in terms of top level experience, so if he's dragged into a tear up, as I expect Lopez to try, then it will be interesting to see how he handles it.

Yeah, I always took the "die in the ring" blather as more a lack of self-confidence, I've noticed a high percentage that talk that talk end up falling short on fight night. It's not a good mindset to go into the fight with the idea you might lay your life down, you want to go in with the idea that the OTHER guy might be. I WAS thinking Juanma rises to the occasion and surprises us, pushing Mikey to the brink before succumbing in the championship rounds (10-12), but the dying-in-the-ring comments don't inspire much confidence in my pick.

--- Juanma looked to be doing much of his training with the Ring Card girls in Mexico. Great fighter for his abbreviated time at the top of P4P lists. Guess he could knock out Broner since PDLeon whooped Broner yet knocked out in the first round against Juanma, but nary a chance of that fight happening.

Garcia looked to be fading slightly against Salido, and Juanma tends to fade late, so if both are still around after 8 rounds, could be serious all time brawling and slugging going on. Probably it's a great fight though that keeps both in the running down the road. Obviously Garcia has the big momentum and probably gonna be Arums next great PPV project if he can keep his wheels turning for some career duration.

--- Garcia young, yet an incredible 2 lbs overweight with 2 hours to lose.

We've seen this before with Robert Garcia fighters. Likely Mikey makes a nominal effort knowing he's ready to advance into the next division and comes in with that two pound advantage. If he makes weight, could be severely weakened, then again this could be staged for "private" reasons, and all he needs is to take a leak to be bang on. Ahhh, the behind the scenes drama only the insiders know..........
