Tomasz Adamek to take on Tony Grano

Recommended Posts

Tomasz Adamek's opponent for the August 3, NBC Sports Network Fight Night card has been confirmed. Adamek, 48-2, 29 KO's, will take on Tony Grano, 20-3-1, 16 KO's, in Grano's own hometown in a 10-round heavyweight challenge.

The number of Tomasz's legion of loyal Polish boxing fans may well rival the popular Grano's hometown crowd. One thing is certain, the house will be rocking at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.

Re: Tomasz Adamek to take on Tony Grano

Ugh, I just posted elsewhere about how well the NBC Sports-Main Events alliance has been, I'm not so sure they didn't fumble the ball on this one. I've never been that high on Tony Grano and see this as a surefire Adamek win.........but then I'm a big fan of Thomasz, and maybe I'm turning a blind eye to his decline. Russell Peltz has been promoting a lot longer than I have, maybe this one will be more competitive than I think. I do know that a loss to Grano and Adamek is probably finished.

--- Good high level stay busy fight against a guy who won't run like Chambers and USS did. Should do wonders for Adamek's attitude.

Re: Tomasz Adamek to take on Tony Grano

Even among us here on the forum we have a disagreement on the value of Grano. To me, he's a tough-nosed guy who can bang a little bit, but Adamek should be able to outclass him. If it turns out being a war, like it very well could given Adamek's perceived slippage (IMO), then it would signal that it's time for Thomasz to hang up the gloves. It's that crossroads aspect of it that makes it interesting that appeals to LRR, Scott, and I............but I wouldn't deny that Brawler is not far off the mark, a win over a Grano opens no doors nor does it move Adamek up again in the pecking order.

--- Adamek's already over Pink and Povetkin in boxrec with Pulev just barely edging him in the 3 slot.

Pulev has done everything asked of him, but moving up to top contender has yet to open doors for him, and now he's been inactive as the usual suspects have all ducked him. Nothing wrong with an old school stay busy fight to keep the systems in tune, something Pulev's promoter needs to do for him before he becomes too fat and stale.

Can't argue there, but then at least two-thirds of the divisions needs to be more active. There's no jockeying for position, it's all about simply waiting in line and hoping the phone will ring.
