The_budweiser
Leading boxing promoter Frank Warren has today (10th June 2013) announced a major multi-fight agreement for the Copper Box Arena with venue operator GLL, the UK’s largest Social Enterprise. The deal will guarantee that world class boxing will be at the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park sports offering and re-enforces East London as the spiritual home of boxing in the UK. It comes less than one month before the North of the Park re-opens to the general public for the first time since the 2012 Games. The 7,000 seat Copper Box Arena was known as the “box that rocks” during the London Olympics and looks set to become one of the leading indoor sporting venues in the country. The agreement will see some of the best boxers and exciting fights hosted at venue and will offer up to 42,000 Londoners the chance to enjoy the sport first hand. http://ringnews24.com/index.php/press-releases/item/5019-frank-warren-and-gll-announce-six-fight-boxing-deal-at-copper-box-arena
BoztheMadman
Re: Frank Warren and GLL Announce Six Fight Boxing Deal at Copper Box Arena Seems like old fox is trying to take Eddie Hearn by the balls...in other words, to get the upper hand.:tongue1:
gavpowell
Re: Frank Warren and GLL Announce Six Fight Boxing Deal at Copper Box Arena What's the significance to Hearn? Plenty of other venues - at the moment he's preparing to stage shows in Hull, for example, for Luke Campbell's pro debut.
iamasadlittleboy
Re: Frank Warren and GLL Announce Six Fight Boxing Deal at Copper Box Arena ...is that not a nothing announcement? Hearn has used London sparingly (and used York Hall, the O2, the Olympia and Wembley Arena) whilst also doing shows across the country. For Warren, London is pretty much his only "area" at the moment. Poor move by Frankie who seems to want to blow smoke up our arses again. Over the past 12 months Hearn has done 18 shows. Of those- 2 in Sheffield 2 in Liverpool 2 in Belfast 1 in Blackpool 1 in Nottingham 1 in Glasgow 1 in Wolverhampton And "only" 8 in London Warren on the other hand has done just 12 shows in that same time and 8 of those have been in London with the others being 2 in Walsall 1 in Glasgow 1 in Liverpool
BoztheMadman
Re: Frank Warren and GLL Announce Six Fight Boxing Deal at Copper Box Arena You know it better than me, gentlemen. Im not a Brit. But it seems to me like Warren is trying to rally one last time before he gives up the fight to the younger weasel, I don't use the word lion here coz its not apropriate, weasel is more apropriate when talking about promoters. :tongue1:
