Haye vs Fury potentially?

Recommended Posts

Just read elsewhere that today Fury has pulled out of an IBF eliminater fight, and since Haye's fight with Charr is off, and apparently both parties previously having discussions might this pave the way for this fight to happen?

I've not seen any sources for any of the above info, I just read it from perceived boxing fans.

I'd like to see this fight, if for nothing but the hilarious build up it's bound to have.

FWIW I reckon Haye wins, by stoppage!! :-O

**Edit: Some odds already up for the fight: Oddschecker

--- What are the odds on Mr. Pinky stubbing his little self again? I reckon Fury can make as much if not more with the USS rematch and have a guaranteed payday with less headaches. Main Events could even line the winner up with Adamek and have all their bases covered for the year.

What makes you think that would generate more revenue than what would be the biggest British heavyweight clash since Lewis/Bruno?

---- US interest in seeing Fury knocked out in terms of broadcast monies available makes USS fight quite doable. Fury would command the lions share like he did the first fight, only more this time around.

Mr. Pink thinks he's the star of UK and wants all the pot which is why he ain't fighting Vitali and probably not Fury. Why should Fury take the lambs' share on a fight likely to be canceled on Pinky nonsense? He could line up Main Even paydays for the rest of the year and enhance his status to boot as an international fighter.

Congrats on Malik Scott coming to Merry Olde England. Scott couldn't draw flies, but he can make a splash punching up England's favorite punching bag if he shows up in shape. Maybe Mr. Pink might be brave enough to match the winner down the round.

Re: Haye vs Fury potentially?

Interestingly, Mick Hennessy failed to even show up for todays deadline to agree the fight.

I have a feeling that Team Fury didn't fancy the fight and the possibility of going to Germany to face the divisions dangerman, Kubrat Pulev.

There are easier routes to a World title shot. Though, I don't believe David Haye is an easier route.

He would probably be better off looking towards Povetkin and Adamek as name opponents rather than Pulev and Haye, who I reckon would both deck him.

Yeah, he should go for those type of fights. I think they have tried to make an Adamek fight, though Adamel potentially has a big Polish clash with Szpillka this year. Povetkin seems to be on a collision course with Wlad. I think Fury could do with a couple more fights and see how things lie in 2014 and then push his claim for a shot.

Re: Haye vs Fury potentially?

We've basically seen Fury rise to a point where he doesn't really need to face Haye, and it's also a fight that would probably still be there for him even after he loses a title shot. If Haye wanted to fight him, he should've spoken up sooner.

I see where your coming from but I'm there is a bit of a block, to get a shot at a Klitschko. Fury has shouted enough about Haye and it looks like financially, its big enough in the UK, for Haye to bother with.

Haye, didnt want the UK fights but is chasing rankings - Fury is accommodating. Neither man can get stick for taking this fight. (apart from Haye and the Charr ticket holders, who got ripped off in admin fees - which is very wrong)

Re: Haye vs Fury potentially?

To be honest I'm still raging about Haye and Eventim pocketing £250k from punters for a fight which was clearly never going to go ahead, and they had no intention of trying to reschedule....all this chat of negotiations starting with Fury, within days of the cancellation announcement on the Charr fight, has certainly soured my outlook of Haye, as if his displays in top level heavyweight bouts weren't enough to go on...

Giving fans face value for the tickets after ripping everyone off with ridiculous booking fees and failing to return them, mean I certainly won't be going to another Haye fight, regardless of who the opponent is...I hope Fury smokes the cant! :mlol:

Brooklyn has a point though, everyone should have received a full refund. Haye's made a small fortune for giving nothing in return.

You are correct, of course! My post was only in jest.

Agreed, from the standpoint of Fury now being ranked significantly high enough (world-level) and not just be seen as a domestic fight, you make a good point for Haye to have resisted to this point. Plus, like you say, Fury's spent a lot of time calling him out, so not fighting him would be hard to sell from a PR standpoint.

Re: Haye vs Fury potentially?

Fair play to Fury if this does happen, I cant believe even he thinks he can win this one.

It's worth more to him than a Pulev loss, and in the small chance he pulls off the win, he's primed for a fight with one of the big guns anyway, regardless of the need for an eliminator...

--- He probably sees what I see, a light in the loafers Mr. Pink fighting the Dumbo leftovers of Fury, Helenius, and Vitali, then pulling out of Charr after saying he wouldn't be fighting him, then reversing himself and saying they'll fight, then double reversing saying game over, it was just some smoke blown up the usual arses.

Who has Mr. Pink ever actually beat who could even be a bother to Fury? We'll see where they land soon enough and who stubs his lil' pinky next. Seems a significant portion boxing world is agaga over certain fighters who's yearly retirement announcements and abandoned fights outnumber their fights for the year.

Obviously blinded by your own hatred to the point you forget completely about Chisora for starters...

But Fury beat Chisora with ease.

I think the question should be "What has Fury done to suggest he can fight a guy with handspeed and a solid punch?" - I love Fury and have come to loathe Haye, but I think this would be a stupid fight for Fury right now because he won't win. Losing to Haye after losing to K2 is one thing, but why would you want to potentially derail a title shot at this late stage?

The fight continues to move closer to being made, and from Fury's side of things I also don't see the logic in the move. As I say, the Haye fight will always be there, even if he fails in a title fight. They invested all this time to the rankings and now seem to be giving it up rather willingly.
