ANTHONY CROLLA hopes a victory over Gavin Rees will earn him a crack at WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns.

 

The affable Mancunian knows he cannot overlook the threat Rees will bring when they lock horns on Matchroom Sport's June 29 show at the Bolton Arena.

 

 

 

But a potential clash with Burns could be in offing later in the year and for Crolla it's an opportunity too big for him to simply ignore.

He can beat Rees...Gavin is getting on with age and the beating he got from Boner might have made him shot. Whereas Crolla is in his prime.

I would give Rees a 90% chance of winning this bout and Crolla a 10% chance.

I don't think it brings either of them any closer to a bout with Burns though.

Whoever wins and if they keep winning for a few bouts, then we may well see it 12 months down the line, but right now, a win for either of them over the other isn't going to warrant a world title tilt imo.

It's a good domestic matchup, but nothing more.
