Khans not going to do a Tiger

Amir Khan has vowed to avoid repeating Tiger Woods' mistakes with women - despite admitting he is often approached by beautiful girls.

Khan's profile has rocketed since becoming the WBA World light-welterweight champion by beating Andreas Kotelnik in July.

And the boxer made an emphatic first defence of his title against Dmitriy Salita in Newcastle earlier this month as he won in 76 seconds.

British Pakistani Khan, 23, had girls queuing up from dawn to meet him on a recent public appearance in Birmingham.

And the star, who won silver in the 2004 Olympics before turning pro, knows professional sportsmen face numerous potential distractions.

But Khan insists boxing is his top priority and insists he will not be tempted by girls - unlike World No.1 golfer Woods, who faces a possible divorce after a string of affairs.

"I am going to stick to my clean image as I am so dedicated to my game," insisted single Khan.

"I know my boxing comes first and I am not going to sacrifice anything for it.

"I am very dedicated so I don't want to change anything or mess up over something stupid.

"I know what is right and what is wrong and I don't need distractions.

"Being young you do get stunning girls coming over to you but my friends enjoy it more than I do.

"Girls come over to me just to say: 'you are doing a great job'.

"But you learn about that stuff and what people like Tiger Woods have done.

"You think I am not going to make that same mistake.

"I don't really want to follow that route if I am going to stay clean."

Khan still lives at home with his parents in Bolton and credits them with keeping him grounded.

And the star says although he is moving out soon, it is only into an annex next door so he can still get looked after by his mother.

"My family have played a massive role in my success," added Khan.

"When I go home they see me as a normal person and we never talk about boxing.

"Everything is done for me at home - mum does all my ironing and the food is always there.

"She even tidies my room - I am spoilt.

"I love it at home and being with my family - my nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters.

"That will never change because I am building a big annex right in front of our family house.

"I have a lot of land there and me and my brother are going to move in there.

"It is a two-bedroom flat with a swimming pool downstairs so mum is going to have to come up there in future."

Khan now plans to go back into training in January ahead of his next title defence in March.

His promoter Frank Warren is already lining up some possible opponents - including Zab Judah - and Khan is expected to fight in the US in 2010.

But Khan insists he is not worrying about who he will face next until after a good break from the sport this month.

Despite being a Muslim, he will celebrate Christmas as it is part of British culture.

The star is looking forward to a rare festive break when he can eat what he wants as he is not in training.

And Khan is not letting bitchy comments from WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch,32, spoil his Christmas.

Khan added: "I am just going to ignore it and wish him good luck in his career.

"I put food on my own table at home and I earn my own money.

"He shouldn't really care where my career is going and I don't care where his career is going. "

Just one small problem there Amir. You will never be a tenth as good at fighting as Tiger Woods is at what he does. Sorry make that 2 problems. Also you will never become a billionaire through sport like Woods has.

Other than that nice to know mum still looks after you, and that you appreciate it. Good boy.
